I used to play pickup with a guy who played a full career at Dinamo Zagreb. Everything was perfect. His first touch was always into open space. His passes went exactly where they should have gone. He was always in the right spot, and every decision he made was the best possible one he could've made. About half of us were ex-college players, and he made us look like school children. Oh yeah, and he was 63. That's how big the difference is between top flight professional ball, and your average "good" player off the street.

I have great stamina that I can run about 1 km with full speed and few km with jogging speed and I have perfect skills and physical strength....like I am 20 years old and 5 10, 61 kg, good stamina, good skills...but the thing is i was born in wrong country pakistan 🇵🇰, my country is 5th most populous country and 90% football is produced here but our football team rank is 195 😢... And there is no League system here😢😢.... and apart from all this I am poor, so I can't go to Spain or any other European country..... But this year I am trying to go to Saudi Arabia for a job.(Because most of Pakistan work there so it is easy to Go to Saudi and the other thing is that i can start career from there because of their Football upgradations there)Then I will try my best to turn pro there....I need your prayers...I am confident that I will prove my athletic performance and skill there....if I shift there .❤

For most teams I’ve been on there’s really no actual punishment. Some teams will have you doing extra fitness after training to get you caught up, but It’s really more about optics. You don’t want to be the player that fails it and have your coach thinking you’ve been slacking off all offseason.

US Soccer needs strong professional leagues. To be successful and durable it needs a lot of clubs. Lower league soccer needs to be nearby for the fans. Detroit City would benefit from games against other Michigan teams. Troy vs Detroit City or Detroit City vs Ann Arbor sound far more attractive than Las Vegas vs Detroit. And it would create local loyalty (would love to see a line away fans buses), but also be more affordable to the clubs. So I think a MLS/USL league structure would need at least three levels and something like 10 divisions with some 90 clubs.

Oh Matt, I also wanted to ask you for your Q&A… have you ever dealt with an in season bad ankle sprain? I’ve done a number on my dominant (right) ankle and it’s been nearly a month now and still not back to normal. Did a week of the whole RICE technique but this one just isn’t fully healing… I’m not sure if I need to just focus on cardio and solo drills, if weight training is bad idea etc… Can you share your thoughts on how you would rehab a similar injury?
@BecomeElite10 күн бұрын
The RICE method is a pretty outdated method for dealing with injuries. Even the creator of it has now stated it’s not a great method anymore. RICE is really only used immediately after sustaining the injury to reduce inflammation, but what most trainers are seeing now is that some inflammation is good. It’s the body’s way of dealing with damaged ligaments, muscles, etc. What you want to do is ice and compress if there is excess swelling for the first 48 hours or so. But after that period it’s all about strengthening up the ankle and mobilizing it through specific ankle rehab exercises. If you don’t do that then your ankles just get weaker and stiffer over time which leads to more frequent and worse ankle sprains. Go see a physical therapist or at the very least watch some KZbin videos from licensed physical therapists about ankle rehab exercises you can do.
@shanec822410 күн бұрын
@ Legend! Thank you for taking the time to respond… I didn’t know that about RICE. Makes sense though as I always thought there must be some benefit of the body sending white blood cells to the area of injury… I’m waiting for my new insurance to kick in so till then I’ll look up some licensed PT vids. Thanks again! 🙌

Do you do any speed and power training? I understand you have a fitness test and all, but I just expected some speed and power training as you're not in preseason yet. This is when I'd likely be doing speed and power to the max.
@BecomeElite11 күн бұрын
@@nobletstrength Yep, I talked about it a few episodes back, but unfortunately, my gym has a strict no filming policy, so I haven’t been able to show much of it. But I’m doing plyometrics, heavy lifts like trap bar deadlifts, squats, bench press, rows, etc as well as sled pushes and stuff like that. I’ve been working out like that about 2-3x a week
@nobletstrength10 күн бұрын
@@BecomeElite Makes sense. Filming is not always a given when it comes to training. A lot of people don't seem to understand that. lol But ya, that seems about right for this point in the off-season.
@shanec822411 күн бұрын
Hi Matt, can I ask a question on weight. You said you want to get up to 180, then your ideal weight in preseason is 175. Do you try to maintain 175 thru the season? I was weighing about 170 and now I’m down to 158, I feel way more lighter on my feet and better endurance the lighter I am… After hearing you talk I’m kinda wondering if I should try to bulk a bit… Can you share your experience with body weight. You feel better with more mass?
@smp534310 күн бұрын
Dude. Since when is football about mass? All professional athletes are very lean. The only muscle they have is that on their legs. Tell me a few players who have biceps? Aguero?? Nope. Mbappe? Nope. Halland? Nope! Kdb? Nope! Are you serious about mass? How's this even a question??? Those athletes just eat healthy. And eat fuel their bodies appropriately. They don't maintain anything. Nor care about your little mass weight. It's irrelevant
@shanec822410 күн бұрын
@smp5343 well if you read my comment you’d see that in my experience being lean has been advantageous for me… But if you watch his video he talks about trying to gain weight. He’s the pro here so I’m asking for his insight.. Also when I said mass I didn’t say upper body… Adding mass can be lower body too… And if you haven’t seen Adama Traore on the ball, you’d might realize they’re not all built the same…
@BecomeElite10 күн бұрын
It’s all about personal preference. I’m 6’0” tall and I’ve found I feel the best with my playstyle around 170-175 lbs. it’s the best combination of being light, fit, strong, and solid. There are 6’0” pros that prefer to be 10-20 lbs lighter than me and like to sit around 150-160 lbs. With their play style, they like to feel as light as possible and sacrifice some strength. There are other pros I know at 6’0” that like to be close to 180-190 lbs. They prefer to play more physical and will sacrifice feeling lighter on their feet in order to feel stronger and more powerful. It’s all preference. That’s why pros at the highest level come in all shapes and sizes. You have players like Lamine Yamal and Adams Traore. My recommendation is to experiment with your weight until you find where you feel the most comfortable and where you feel like you perform the best. That might be at 158 or it might be 175, but you won’t know until you get there and test it out.
@shanec82249 күн бұрын
@ Thanks for the response Matt! So good hearing your insights, that totally makes sense…. When I was at 170 (I’m 5’10) I was a little flabby/out of shape. My plan is to continue cutting to 155 maybe even 150, get super lean, then see if I can add lean mass to come back up a little so that the mass I’m adding is functional in creating strength and power…

When I do the seated hamstring I can’t reach my toes and I’m 16 years old what can I do for that please ?
@fabianmelzer834011 күн бұрын
What helped me is: Sit on the Floor an have both your legs in front of you. Now put one leg in top of the other with a 90 degree angle. Now if you reach forward your knee can’t go up and you feel a deep stretch in your hamstring. What helped me is don’t try to reach your toes. You should try to reach your legs with your upper body. After every ten seconds go deeper till you reach one minute. You’ll see a big diffrrnce in before and after. Now you do this every day
