I'd argue that Janet Jackson and Madonna each had a couple of quint essential pop albums, and both pushed the boundaries for music videos. They definitely paved the way for lady Gaga. Some other glaring omissions would be Tears for Fears, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Peter Gabriel, Fleetwood Mac, Cheap Trick, and Depeche Mode. Just considering people who write memorable songs that still get played, covered, and inspire people. But, they, you get the same bullshit from any list you'll find in Rolling Stone.

Dank Hill The way Kendrick Lamar tells stories and relates themes together on albums like "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City" and "To Pimp a Butterfly" can be viewed as progressive in a way. He also uses a lot of experimentation in his flows and instrumentals by including tons of genres like jazz, funk, rock, electronic, and psychedelic that can be considered musically progressive. There's also not many mainstream rappers nowadays who have the ambition to create full-envisioned concept albums the way that Kendrick has been able to this decade.

She was on Star Search back in 1991 seven years before pitch correction was invented and made it farther than Beyonce,Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera and still people think she can't sing because she hasn't sang live regularly in almost 15 years. Yet Barbara Streisand didn't perform live for 29 years and she never had any accusations of not being able to sing. She's written 39 of her songs and plays piano yet still doesn't get any respect. This dude says Elvis should be here lol he went his entire life without contributing anything but vocals to his music. Even Paris Hilton was involved with her music.

Why are all of those people singers, think about that for a second. Yep.. it's not about the music, it's about putting a face on the music because when you hear an instrument you don't know who plays it, now when you listen to a voice however, you know who that person is, and if you don't you're gonna ask who that is. The goal is to make those people as much relevant as possible so they can generate as much money as possible. Rihanna- Love her but she isn’t that good, great stage presence tho and somewhat decent performer. She has amazing modern classics. Her voice needs improvement. Pink- Amazing voice, somewhat good lyrics, great performer Maroon 5- No🙃 Their music has decreased overtime in my opinion Katy Perry- She’s Okay. Songs aren’t the best, but she has some modern classics and that’s understandable why she’s there. Not the best performer. Justin Timberlake- He’s great in terms of singing and performing; I kinda liked him better in N’Sync. But his songs like ‘Cry Me A River’ were amazing. Britney Spears- Music royalty. She can somewhat sing, but just doesn’t choose to. She has some classics. I think she should’ve been ranked lower tho. Taylor Swift- I think she should be at like No.10. She has some great songs tho, and her performances are great. Kelly Clarkson- She should be at like 20. Her voice is beautiful and strong. Her songs are a bore tho. Mariah Carey- She should’ve been placed higher because of her impact in the music world. Amazing voice, wish it wasn’t so abused tho. Her songs are decent. ‘Emotions’ is a definite classic. Bruno Mars- He should be at like 6. Amazing dancer, singer, song writer, and he’s a great performer. Stage presence is power. His modern classics are good. 24k Magic was an amazing album. I’ve always been a fan of his. Usher- He’s at a good place. ‘Let It Burn’ will forever be his best song. Don’t @ me. Lady Gaga- She should be higher. One of the best vocals of today, amazing dancer, performer, actor, and song writer. Black Eyed Peas- Just no... they shouldn’t be this high; they should be like at 35. ‘Let’s Get It Started’ was fun tho. Christina Aguilera- Should be higher. But I can see why she’s ranked where she is. Janet Jackson: She isn’t that good. I don’t get the hype around her. She’s an amazing, amazing dancer. Singing is average not really the best tho. Songs are boring except ‘Rhythm Nation’. Madonna- Why and how is she below Janet?? She should be way higher, she has made one of the biggest impacts in music. Her MTV performance was iconic. ‘Vogue’ and ‘Like A Virgin’ will forever be classics. Flo Rida- Why is he on the list in general?? Beyoncé- Billboard is playing games if she’s below Flo Rida and Maroon 5. She is one of the greatest performers of all time. Her vocals are outstanding. She’s versatile, her songs are modern classics and- Why is she this low?? That makes no sense whatsoever. Let’s not even get started on her Destiny Child’s days. Nickelback- No. Match Box 20- Never heard of them tbh. Jenifer Lopez- This spot seems about right. But she shouldn’t be listed after Nickelback. Eminem- BILLBOARD GET YOUR SH*T TOGETHER! He shouldn’t be this low; he’s the greatest rapper alive rn, in my opinion he’s the greatest of all time. Chris Brown- Meh. I personally think he should be higher; actually nah. He’s at a perfect spot. Nelly- He’s not that good tbh. ‘Dilemma’ was good, and that’s only because of Kelly. Avril Lavigne- She should be a bit higher; I love her songs. But she’s good. Just good. Her voice gets a bit boring at times tho. It’s an average voice. Justin Bieber- Definitely should be higher in terms of album sales, how well his albums have been doing, and performances (let’s forget some..). His voice is very calming but it hasn’t changed, it hasn’t improved or gotten worse, it’s just stayed there. Backstreet Boys- Should be a bit higher on the list. Their harmonization is absolutely amazing. Performances are okay, and their songs specially ‘I Want It That Way’ and ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’ are amazing, and modern classics. Pitbull- He’s absolute garbage. I hate his songs, they’re like torture devices for my ears. And all his songs are about the same things. Girls with big butts twerking or just hot girls. Kesha- She’s made her mark in the music world; I think she’s at a good spot. And her new songs are boring, her voice has improved and it’s good to listen to. But her older songs are my guilty pleasure. Selena Gomez- She shouldn’t be this low, but then again she should. I’m a huge fan of hers, but I want to hear her actually sing; not just talk-sing. She needs to work on that. She has made some very recognizable songs but their also super boring at times. N’Sync- Perfect spot. Well deserved spot too. ‘Bye, Bye, Bye’ is a classic and it’s so catchy. But ‘I Thought She Knew’ is their best sing because of the vocals. Most of their songs are boring tho. Adele- Good lord she should be so much higher. One of the best voices in modern music today. Beautiful, lovely, strong, and powerful voice. She has such control over it and it’s well supported. Her performances are nothing less of amazing. She’s made some modern classics and her songs are good if you like slow and powerful songs. They are really boring sometimes. Alana Moraset- Never heard of her. I don’t even know if I spelt her name right. Calvin Harris- Well deserved spot. He’s made some great songs, I prefer his recent songs like ‘Slide’ and ‘Feelings’ only because of the retro sounds. His singing is good tho. Not really special. Ed Sheeran- Ah, he’s very formal, he’s made beautiful songs for slow dancing. I find 99% of his songs boring. His singing is beautiful and his part in ‘Endgame’ throw it away! Destiny’s Child- They should be so much higher. Iconic group, iconic songs. All amazing vocalist and performers. Really should be much higher. The fact Pitbull is higher than them.😷 3 Doors Down- Never been a fan or liked their craft. Ne-yo- He should be higher. I low-key hate his voice. Céline Dion- A Queen should Never Be ranked this low!😤 Boyz ll Men- Never really liked their music. Decent and average vocals. Boring and basic songs. The Weekend- He should be higher; He’s good but not that good. His songs were too overplayed and got annoying. Enrique Englasis- (I cant spell in Spanish that well) ‘Bailando’ was his only great song in my opinion. He’s not that good; his voice is so boring too. No Doubt- This is well deserved. They were great; Gwen’s voice is annoying tho; it’s nice but she sounds like she’s trying to impersonate an average country artist. Ariana Grande- She should be a lot higher. I hate her trap sound; I loved her earlier works, most of her underrated songs should be her most noticeable songs. I liked when she had the innocent image better. Her voice is amazing; songs have kinda decreased in quality. But she’s trying new things. One Republic- ‘Counting Stars’ is their only good song. They shouldn’t even be on the list. Hoody and the Blowfish- Never heard of them (don’t know how to spell their name). Ellie Goulding- It’s surprising to see her this high. I think she should be lower. Her voice is meh. Her songs are meh. Her performances are also meh! Cheryl Crow- She’s- I don’t really have an opinion on her. Nicki Minaj- She should be higher; let’s be real here. Love her songs, especially her new songs ‘Good Form’ and ‘Chun-Li’ are a forever bop. Her voice is scary sometimes, she gets too aggressive. And she said “nigga” so much like sis.. chill with that. THESE ARE ALL MY OPINIONS! Idk why tf artists like The Beatles, Queen, and Michael Jackson aren’t on this list. That makes no dang sense. At all.

I grew up on avril and I still love her. I remember my first album was when I was u, and I got this shiloh cd whom i loved (avril lavigne knock-off pop punk princess) and now it's paved the way to being a big fan of grunge and nu metal!
