Hi!

Feel free to drop any tips, tricks, suggestions for this newbie solo summit girl. ((this is me asking for all your unsolicited advice ;P …which I guess makes it solicited lol)) *Specifically asking for tips on how best to climb up and down scree and what to look for 👀🏔 ALSO: Don’t fall for scams. Seriously-I’m too busy hiking to be asking you for money or offering you money/prizes/blah blah blah on all those whastapp/telegram/texting apps etc. ((it ain't me :P)) P.S. - Canada is the coolest. You should come here, you won’t regret it. 🇨🇦

Re scree and other challenging terrain: a pair of telescoping hiking poles are a useful and adaptable tool. They can make going up or down loose or slippery ground a lot more safe and doable. You can change the tips for ice, stone, mud, etc. The lengths can be adjusted for hiking hillsides or paths that are below grade. They are light weight and you can collapse them and tie them to your pack when you don't need/want them. Can't think of anything else you could need - you seem to have it all: vision, determination, attitude. Keep it up!!

I second the hiking poles and also if your knees are getting sore you can walk backwards for a bit and it helps! Some beautiful hikes in BC a little west of Jasper/Hinton are Mica mountain mine trail (sometimes you can see mt Robson and was also the location of a Sasquatch sighting), Viking Ridge, and Raven Lake (double check accessibility with your van on this one, I made it in my suv but just not sure about vans). The Ancient Forest/Chun T’Oh Whudujut park is a nice stop and good for a gentle afternoon jaunt (in comparison to the others). Edited: geography is hard

This is inspirational... the whole hike I was in awe that you're placing the camera so you would've been doing double in some parts, then you flew the drone at the top which you would've carried all the way up, then editing and putting it all together with your incredibly satisfying beer at the end. Just wow. This is a fine work of art. Great job Anna, thanks for taking us with you ❤️

I agree. Hat off to this girl! Lof of double hikes. Since she had the drone, I wonder if she can have the drone hoover while she walks toward or away from the scene and then fly the drone back to her with the remote.

I'm U.S. and my lifelong mental image of Canada is wonderful. And every time I have met a Canadian in the U.S., I have no idea they're not American..., until they say again (agAin), or About (aboUt). Then I caught them. Literally thousands of miles of shared US-CA border and essentially no problems (compared to so many other bordering countries. Also during 911, thousands of American airlines needed emergency landing and Canadians absorbed much of the demand with perfect hospitality - I'll NEVER forget that. Canada rocks !!
@teckin139
@teckin139 Жыл бұрын
@@crackerjack6075 very kind words sir. We Canadians always call America our Big Brother, no need to fight with our big brother. Canadians don't have much TV to watch except for American TV so that's probably why we sound and act like Americans except for our few words that give us away haha. Canada is big though so there are lots of different dialects across the country. FYI, I love America and will go for a road trip myself pretty soon.

You reminded me of a very good friend from long ago, who was a nature guide here in Finland, and who told me that to be safe from bears there are two rules: wear a couple of small bells - as you did - and if you see bear poo, retreat quietly from the area. I asked him: "how do I recognise bear poo?" His answer in the driest poker-face manner: "it contains lots of small bells..." - Happy hiking! All the best! 👍😎

Yes Anna, you're seeing some of the world's most beautiful country. It never gets "old." The book by Dr. S. Herrero - Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance, is a must read if you wish to advance yourself in the backcountry (eg Banff) and keep safe. When hiking, never cook inside your tent, best to cook away from the campsite. A simple fire for tea, coffee, noodles is ok. Awesome video! Music too.

Good for you Anna! A year ago you barely hiked, now you are climbing mountains. You should see if you can reach Foresty Forest. (Or at the very least watch his videos.) He is Canadian, and he climbs lots of mountains in Alberta. He sometimes does videos and sometimes climbs with other KZbinrs. You could probably learn a lot from him. Also, in your last video, when you entered Canada, you said Canadians are so nice. Well it is easy to be nice to a person like you, coz we are just reflecting what you give out....a nice,beautiful smile! ♥️ Welcome to Canada! Enjoy yourself! 😊🤗🇨🇦 Eileen

Oh Ana, absolutely loving your channel. Although years apart we most certainly traveled the same paths. 2002, divorce, moved from St Louis to Babb, MT. Wanted to get away for lack of better words. Worked the border there. Exploring Glacier, Watertown, Castle Mountain region, Canmore, Jasper, Lake Louise, Columbia Ice Fields, and yes even Hinton (awesome town), and much much more. Canada is truly magnificent! It used to really puzzle me, Canadians would come to the US in droves and droves and I would talk to them and was shocked to discover how few actually explored and discovered Canada. Nothing against the US of course, love my country. But I was just stunned, like, you guys have one of the most beautiful, accessible, incredible places around, go check it out.

The contiguous Parks of Canada's Rocky Mountains, and their evirons, are similar in scenery and nature to Glacier Park in Montana, it is the same geology but it gets even higher and more extreme in Canada, the contiguous Canadian Parks are 6 times the size of Glacier Park, and the areas beyond the Park boundaries are almost as good and add additional thousands of square miles. So you decide if Glacier Park in Montana multiplied by 6 (or much more) is great or not........... As for this video, it is set on the eastern edge of the Rockies where the mountains are smaller than most of the range. Still nice though, and good for beginning hikers.
