I love that you shared this experience! It looks like an amazing opportunity and so much fun! On thing I noticed that may help: The way you describe and demonstrate the finger positioning is what's likely causing your wrist strain. The conical shape of your fingers need to lead with your middle with all other fingers helping with pressure pushing into your middle finger. This lends compounding strength engaging all ligaments. So mainly your middle finger pressing into the clay with your others pushing on it from behind. If you look at the footage of Moon demonstrating that pull, you'll see what I'm talking about. This got me wanting to throw big again! Thanks for sharing this! ❤❤

I have tendinitis in my wrist and what you’re describing sounds like it. It doesn’t bother me much when I throw small things but larger items it hurts and I need to do them in parts. I love throwing large items but just can’t do a huge chunk.

maybe get a check up to see if you've got a wrist infection. if it's in your stronger arm it's likely you got it from using a mouse. in the past I had something similar, from my office job and in periods when it flares up I could really feel it when throwing, even small things. more at the back of my wrist though. what fixed it for me was exercise but also pottery, as a form of exercise, when throwing and wedging. also stated using an ergonomic mouse 😅

Hi Lily. I admire you a lot as a potter, business owner, and artist. I've followed you for a few years and love your videos. I am a potter myself and attended his workshop in Australia this past weekend and I must say it makes me annoyed to see how much you shared on your video. It feels disrespectful towards Moon to share his knowledge and techniques on the internet for free when he's touring the world to teach people himself. It is interesting to see your experience in the workshop and on learning new techniques and pushing yourself to try something new, but it's not cool to share such deep details from his teaching on the internet.

Interesting take. I’m sharing what I learnt from it and what I have gained from him, but nothing would ever compare to actually going to it in person. There was SO much more that I could have shared, but the experience of being there and having real life feedback and talking to him truly could never compare to a video of it.

(I just finished my first wheel class, so I'm an absolute fetus). But I had an identical shooting pain in my wrist and arm like you were describing trying to throw right handed/CCW for the first 4 weeks. But I was fine once I switched to lefty/CW. It might be something to try if your right hand already feels painful/awkward?
