it's easier to be accepting of insanity than disagreeing and having to make up arguments and all. It's much quicker to say "OMG so cool" and then move on with your day. Nobody really cares of what's gonna happen to him.

and i would be glad that he can live his life as he pleases and as he feels like, but this is the open door to all sorts of damaging behaviors and I believe it is dangerous when you start letting people do everything they want. Also, i really hope this isn't taxpayer money, people with actual diseases still die everyday from lack of treatment and resources...

No, they definitely had a choice. Either they could be supportive and keep their child in their lives, or they could be unsupportive and lose him as soon as he turned 18 - if not sooner. They chose to keep their child - whether female or male - in their lives. I'm sure they'd rather have a daughter turned into a son, than to have a kid who no longer associates with them. At least, if they were good parents, they would.

This is really sweet but remember, not everyone knows when they are 2 years old, not everyone has a supportive family, not everyone has the opportunity to take hormones or have surgery, and not everyone can transition as a teenager. But they are still valid and deserving of respect, no matter how early in their transition they are.

Exactly, I’m now 12 and I only realised I was trans about half a year ago despite the fact I did wear pink and liked dolls I also really enjoyed cars and wearing trousers at school when there was an option (not being stereotypical) only problem is puberty has started especially since I was an ‘early bloomer’ and you have to be out for about 2 years before you can get blockers :(

I had a normal female childhood but was abused and neglected as a kid so anything I noticed that was wrong, I repressed. I know I'm a boy now and 16, went through female puberty, but I know now that I need to rectify that. Not all of us can know even when we're going through puberty. If anyone disagrees with me - please, tell me, and I'll explain better. I knew I wasn't meant to grow up before, but now I can become a man on the outside too, I have hope back

@@algalcat a lot of people can have body dysmorphia and transitioning doesn't always make them feel better. Check out pique resistance on KZbin. Many of those girls had severe body dysphoria, but being on T didn't help them relieve it. Should wait till over 18 or later to start T. Not because young people dont have the ability to make the choice. But because T has serious effects on the brain. Best to let ones brain become as developed as possible before using T.

Tips for people getting hormone blockers/testosterone: according to my cousin, Tensing up hurts a lot lot more. Buy numbing gel and put it on the place where you inject it, after it numbs you may stab the needle into yourself, and also according to my cousin it hurts way less. My cousin is a 20 year old FTM and I’m 12, but my parents don’t know yet so he’s helping me, giving me confidence and things like that, he’s good. -Josh.

sadly the media talks more about trans women then trans men because it's easier to sensationalize/sexuallize the topic and paint them as monsters. This sucks for trans women because of the hate they get but it also sort of sucks for trans men because a lot of people don't even realize we exist. Trans women have an easier time establishing that they're trans women, even though they're more likely to get hate for it. Trans men are often shoved in the "Tomboy" or "Butch lesbian" category and dismissed all together. This stems from the fact that it seems cool and socially acceptable for "women" to act masculine. But when "men" act feminine they're often ostracized for it. many trans men are told that they can be who they are while still being women which is confusing and damaging because they're not women at all but they're still get forced into that identity! Trans women are often insulted for not being manly enough but at least this gives them the freedom to reject that "man" identity completely. Of course I understand as a trans man I'm talking from a place of privilege, trans women definitely have it way worse and my heart goes out to their struggles, I'm just making a separate point. The good news is because mainstream media is not the only source of information anymore and many people take entertainment and news into their own hands through the use of the internet things are getting better. It may be slow going but at least it's going. As transgender individuals all we can do is keep spreading in-depth and diverse stories to portray an honest accurate view of the community and I'm sure in time things will get even better!

Living a synthetic life meant to deceive mostly herself. Children aren’t born hating their sexed bodies. Teens are being encouraged to freeze their sense of self in a moment in time, during the period of life when everything is in flux. And even though key researchers have said over and over again that most gender dysphoric kids “desist” and grow up to be gay or lesbian; even though the latest research denies any such thing as a “male” or “female” brain, parents are encouraged to socially transition their kids, put them on “puberty blockers,” and refer to them by “preferred pronouns.”

Trans people are just as likely to be biological parents as anyone else. THIS WAS LITERALLY PART OF THE DOCUMENTARY. You should really stop talking, you make yourself sound more retarded every time you post.

Leo is my inspiration. I watched the my life episode when it aired on cbbc when I was younger and that's what made me realise that I'm trans. I didn't know what a transgender person was but one of my strongest memories from when I was really young in primary school ( I think I was in year 1/2) was when I said to my best friend that "I really really really want to be a boy" and she said back "I think you can be a boy if you want" and I said "yes I do". When I came out to her in year 7 she said "I kind of already knew, I mean remember what you said to me in primary school". She is still my best friend and is so supportive of me. In year 8 I decided I wanted to be called Lucas in school and started telling everyone, and that went on for about a week with everyone except teachers calling me Lucas. Then people started asking me personal questions that I felt really awkward answering. I told them what I could without giving anything too personal, but then just gave up. I'm now in year 9 going into year 10 and I really want to be known as Lucas and he, but I just don't have the guts to say to my parents that I want to go to the gic and change my name, even though they know I'm trans.

I remember this boy. In 2010/2011 sort of time there was a program on the BBC about different kinds of people. I remember seeing him (or if not him then someone similar) talking on the TV. That person was the first trans person I ever heard about. That program really affected my life, so i'd just like to say thank you.

I find it so odd how much people make this huge deal over having kids. "to make the decision, if he wants to have children who biologically his own" like? why is adoption such a frowned upon option? its probably even a better option considering how overpopulated the earth is. why do people have such a deep concern or attachment to even other people having their "biological" kids? so strange to me
@rowan9456
@rowan9456 6 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree, I want to adopt and don't really get the fuss over children being blood related. Like yeah, it's cool to see what your genes can create, but I mean my pets aren't related to me but I love them to death, so it doesn't matter that much. However, adopting is going to be hard for me, since in my country there's really only adoption from other countries and being trans myself, those countries might object to a trans person adopting a kid. Adding to that the fact that I'm bi, so I may be in a homosexual relationship by then, which makes it quite hard as well. So it's still a big decision to medically transition and basically become sterile.

Why the hell is there always such emphasis on biological children? More and more adults are deciding not to have children. People spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to have biological children. I don't understand why not adopt or fostercare. People act like if you can't have children biologically that there is no other way you'll have children. Sorry for my little rant I just hate how everyone acts like biological children are the only legitimate children.

Lauren The adoption process can be extremely vigorous, especially in the UK. It's simply not practical. It takes some adopters YEARS to call a foster child their own. Not to mention, once the child is above the age of about 4 or 5, there's going to be serious psychological issues with abandonment, and adapting to a new home and family. And finally, as much as we want to suppress it, humans are animals. We reproduce to pass on our genes, and in most people, it's almost innate to want a biological child of their own. A miniature version of themselves. No amount of societal civility will suppress our natural urge to reproduce.

Exactly...It's hard for them to get because they aren't trans and they think of sex reassignment as mutilation because they think of what it would be like for their genitals to be altered and can't think past their own discomfort at the idea of it and can't understand why it would be different for anyone else.

I think some people just have questions and are skeptical, which there is nothing wrong with. Automatically labeling someone with a differing viewpoint as being transphobic is absurd, and it also doesn’t address the questions and concerns brought up by people who aren’t as supportive of the movement. Also just because someone isn’t “trans” doesn’t mean they are incapable of having some level of understanding of what the person might be going through from a mental standpoint. Labeling people and being closed mind isn’t a good solution, and is also hypocritical.
@khammond2295
@khammond2295 4 жыл бұрын
I agree with Andrew. Just because people don't understand it doesn't make them transphobic, and you're the one now pointing fingers, labeling, and being negative. Very hypocritical of you. Not everyone will always understand everything even you. It's not the 'norm' and that's a fact.

Leo's dad made a very good comment, it was him that had to change and he was thankful that he did. Every day I am thankful I was born into a body that I recognize and feel confident being in, the people that have to go through transition surgeries are amazingly strong and I look up to them for being dedicated to becoming the person who they know they are despite societies rejection of them simply trying to be themselves.

I have a lot of respect for your Mum allowing you & supporting you to be fully yourself. Good on your Dad for changing his views. Keep being you, you are helping to normalise a situation that could happen to anyone xx

the title of this video leaves a lot to be desired honestly. it implies that trans people are becoming something else when we aren't. like i'm a trans man also and i've always been trans, every trans person has always been trans, even when we didn't have the language or understanding of ourselves to describe how we felt. i am not becoming something new by transitioning, i'm becoming something i'll be more comfortable with and not distanced from and disgusted by. furthermore, it needs to be known that trans men have male bodies, trans women have female bodies and nonbinary people have nonbinary bodies, calling a trans person "male bodied" or "female bodied" is just a fancy way of misgendering them, to some extent terms like "ftm", "mtf", "afab" and "amab" are similar. like my body is a trans male body but it's still a male body because i'm a man and i live in it. also i think it's time we stop saying "gender identity" and "identify", those are too soft of words. those terms were popularized once trans people became more known to the general public and are almost exclusively used to describe trans people. it's almost like "oh you just IDENTIFY as male" identify is simply just not the right word to use here and it implies that trans people aren't really our genders and are instead just heavily attached to them, which is wrong and harmful. trans people ARE really our genders and using language like that makes it seem like we aren't.

To not know what trans is, but to feel that change, goes to show it's not a trendy thing, it's not just a bandwagon, these are people who feel they are not who they are, live and let live, you go bro

so, right off the bat, it is a reversable decision, somethings like bottom growth, adams apple, and some other changes are not reversible, but if he was to decide he wanted to detransition he could.
@saltydinonuggies1841
@saltydinonuggies1841 5 жыл бұрын
Actually some of the changes around your genitals can be reversible. Obviously that's not 100%, but it is possible. The voice change is the biggest one I've seen that's irreversible. Most trans guys don't get an Adams apple from going on hrt unless they start it really early or go on blockers. I'm not a doctor or gender therapist or anything, but I am a transguy who has been given this information from doctors. If any of it is wrong feel free to correct me!

Objective facts do not disappear just because ones subjective feelings wish they would. Modern science shows that our sexual organization begins with our DNA and development in the womb, and that sex differences manifest themselves in many bodily systems and organs, all the way down to the molecular level. In other words, our physical organization for one of two functions in reproduction shapes us organically, from the beginning of life, at every level of our being. Cosmetic surgery and cross-sex hormones can’t change us into the opposite sex. They can affect appearances. They can stunt or damage some outward expressions of our reproductive organization. But they can’t transform it. They can’t turn us from one sex into the other. Scientifically speaking, transgender men are not biological men and transgender women are not biological women. The claims to the contrary are not supported by a scintilla of scientific evidence.

Jeremy Lee no one says they are, they are men and women, see ? No biological included. I bet no one looks at their organs, or DNA. They FUCKIN know they ain’t be all male, and it depresses them. Changing appearance is the only thing they can do, and as long as it helps they should do it. In the end our world is based on appereance, so whats the problem ?

@@alcapune6683 This exactly is what is wrong with the world today,ppl now only focuses on physical appearance ignoring that there is more to a person that we should be looking for in them. What bothers me is that the world as we know it would be filled with so-called men whom cant produce sperm cause they aren't men, and women who cant produce children cause they don't have eggs . I find it unbalances natural laws, but another thing i am really concerned about is the potential side effects as years pass by with the medications they are consuming to control/alter what was gained naturally . This generation seems oblivious to the fact that what our today is,would not be our tomorrow.

Men’s and women’s brains have a physical difference, in transgender people, scans show their brain more matches the sex they feel they are than what they actually are / were born as. No you can’t change DNA, no you can’t conceive children like a normal person, but that’s not what matters when all life should be about is your own happiness and comfort. It doesn’t hurt anyone, I’m not breaking any laws. I’m unapologetically being myself and it’s something we can’t change if we tried ❤️

@@olithewuffy537 A male brain is a brain from a male body. A female brain is a brain from a female body. The discovery of an ostensibly male brain within a female body (or vice versa) is evidence against brain sex, not for it. Neurocognitive differences between the sexes exist as a statistical average. Furthermore, sexual neurocognitive differences exist _because_ of primary sex characteristics to support their reproductive function and to manage the resultant interpersonal and environmental pressures. Consequently, brain sex could never be the defining difference between males and females.

I came across this video and really, by reading the comments it’s really heartbreaking how people can be so cruel. I know not everyone approves it, but there are research that you are born in the wrong body, literally. And even though you don’t believe it, it’s HIS life and you need to respect how HE lives it. Just please think about things you say to a person and how it could affect them in any way.
