Gender is indeed unchangeable. Being injected the opposite genders hormone as well as surgeries and other methods can indeed cover up the original gender, but it does not change the biological gender. Now why is transgender even a thing, well it's because of norms buil into the society. Specifally transgender people are people who psychologically does not feel part of their natural assigned norms. Is it a real thing even? Clearly it is. Do we have any rights to restrict these people from fulfilling their wishes? Absolutely not. Now shut up with your old fashioned conservative statements, you as well as everyone else were the ones to create norms.

Absolutely not! As a ftm myself, I will admit I have incredibly feminine features that I am working on in the early parts of my transition. Let them ruin their own children's life smh.with their mindset I wouldn't even advice them having a cat. There's already enough confusing in being adopted.. Adoptees already have a identity crisis so u want to put a child with parents who clearly have a identity crisis themselves and a lot more issues? Theyre so narcistic and self centered, what's wrong with people? 😂😂😂 if everyone keeps asking for children in the west the illegal things that are happening won't stop. Children will keep getting ripped away and sold off to a system.. It's a joke 90 precent of all adoptees could have stayed with their biological parent(s), family member(s) or at least stayed in their home country.. If the system really worked and was made for children it wouldn't be that so many adoptees are broken, and fucked up in the head. They get disowned by the adoption family when they hit puberty, because people think it's easy and the child will just easily adapt because it's "loved" and the child should always be happy because what if they didn't adopt It. Oh please get of your high horse.. Adoptees could always had better options too. It's not always the negative that's what people never seem to understand .. Adoption it's just a money making industry. So many organistions benefit from adoptees so why would they try to avoid and give parents the help they need and provide them with resources so that they can take of their children. It's bs.. My time in group homes it was the best time and I wished I was never adopted like so many others. You already on your own, they take everything from you, your name, culture, your whole identity. And on top of that make it seem and make people believe you're not alone and you have a family it's just on paper, just so that they can feel themselves better lmfao.. 😂 Adoption children are most likely to get abused. Stop using children as a chattle. They're not plan b, it's sickening.

Don't take what I'm going to say the wrong way but I really can't agree with you on this one, you cannot couple pregnancy and gender. It is because the man in this video has the proper organs to carry a child that he is able to do so. The gender expression of that man doesn't change his biology. No biological man will ever be able to carry a child, you need an uterus to do that. I'm all about accepting people that are different and in fact I wrote this comment in hope that someone with a transgender experience would help me better understand the thought process of the two men in the video. But you cannot tell me that pregancy is a Human experience, it does not make sense. Sex and gender are not the same thing.

Damn, even as a trans person myself, these people are extremely obsessed with labels, even if they aren't 100% presenting as their gender. I can understand that, yes, medically, there's a mother. That's literally a legal, medical document. Some things, such as certain genetic conditions, are carried only by the mother and that's sort of important information to have. No different than saying your legal sex is whatever you're born with if you haven't made any changes to your physical sex characteristics. It makes it easier for the system, legal, health, or otherwise, to provide proper care and accommodations for what equipment you do have. I doubt that either of them need prostate exams any time soon. It doesn't mean you can't tell your son to call you "dad" or have him call you whatever you want. Hell, I know a nonbinary person who has their kid call them "Neeby". Being trans isn't so much of an outside thing as it is an inside thing. If this person was confident enough in their identity and knows it true to be within himself that he's a man, and was in better touch with, oh I don't know, 99.7% of the population, they probably wouldn't be throwing such a huge fit about it. I know trans guys who get misgendered and they just brush it off like nothing or politely correct the person, because they're aware that they are men, despite lacking the Y chromosome, and they usually put in a lot of effort to present as such. Long hair is usually a no-go for most, especially pre-T, just because even cis men get misgendered for lengthy locks. But, you know, if there's no kicking and screaming, it's not really something worth making a 23 minute long video about. Having a child and starting a family, male or female, should be a positive thing, something exciting. You're making that commitment with your partner to be together and raise an infant that you can proudly call your own. It shouldn't be about "wahh, the nurse I'm probably only going to know for a day or two called me a 'mother' instead of a father, even though I look undeniably female and literally just had an infant pulled out of my undeniably female reproductive system, why is society so stuck on gender norms" or feeling invalidated by people who really don't matter when it's all said and done. This feels less about the infant than it is about them, and I find this a lot in people who are self-centered and all about only fulfilling their needs. Anyways, thank you for coming to my TEDtalk.

Also, if it is down in his notes that he identifies as a man then shouldn’t he have a bit more trust in our healthcare system. They would not call him, she on purpose. In this case, I don't think they had much of a choice. It would definitely have been riskier to be pregnant after being on HRT, and in any case the timing of the HRT didn't work well for Dorian when combined with when he wanted to have a family. I think they and the child will be okay, although the parents both have a lot of psychological work to do for themselves. I think Dorian will feel much better once his transition is well underway and the dysphoria gets less intense.

As long as they care for their child and foster good relationships, then is it not good that we have families who are different? We can’t all be the same. I think the most upsetting this about this whole ordeal is how selfish these people are. Literally all they care about is labeling them correctly and people using the correct pronouns, and frankly, it's really petty. I'm a straight dude, and if everyone suddenly started referring to me as a lesbian girl, I wouldn't give two fucks about it. They're selfish to the point where they'd rather deliver the baby at home, just because in the hospital, someone might mispronounce them. Like, who gives a fuck? You're about to have a baby, your top priority should be safety and well being of the baby, yet you're willing to sacrifice all that just so YOU feel safe, and nobody says she instead of a he. Talk about privilege.

“It is very important for *myyyyy* emotional health...” Becoming a mother revolves entirely around you putting your child’s needs first. Not yours. How will all of this affect a child growing up? How will this child affectively navigate his or her world with such a confusing beginning? Regardless of how you feel about the subject, a child going into school with two transgender fathers is going to inevitably feel different and ostracized. That’s not even taking into account how mean kids are and how society is only starting to accept transgender as a thing recently. Poor kid is gonna have a hard time ahead of him because his or her parents want to make them a pawn in their political feelings.

@dejaa6 жыл бұрын
Ella W umm 🤔 I never thought calling someone a transgender person was insulting. I’m saying it how it is. When your transgender you get put in the transgender category. Like I’m gay so I get put in the category of ‘gay people’ but anyways this comment is old and you just want something to get in your feelings about
@ellaw34736 жыл бұрын
Pashe Yvonne in confused something to get in my feeling about?? I was saying what so hard to "understand" about transgender people.
@dejaa6 жыл бұрын
Ella W yes in your feelings cause you taking what I say so personally. And it’s confusing when you get upset with people for trying to be respectful and address you as a women. Because that’s what they see. A pregnant women, and him getting mad instead of just correcting them or leave it be. Plus I’m confused on the two trans man thing. But I don’t see why me being confused is your business.

Antonia Capella Borges why "props" ? what they are saying is ridiculous and nonsensical... She's a woman... She's an adult female human being... That's all a woman is, doesn't matter what she wants to "identify" as..

@lordfreeza_6 жыл бұрын
Antonia Capella Borges how is it disrespect? Respecting your fellow human beings doesn't mean accepting everything they say as true regardless of reality.. If a white person "identified" as black would it be disrespectful to point out they aren't?? I am not saying they can't "identify as a Man" whatever that even means, but they don't have the right to demand everyone else pretend along with them.. A woman is an adult female human being, they are all three of these things so how is saying that they are a woman disrespectful???

5:27 "Dorian wants a home birth to avoid being misgendered and to help with his dysphoria" Translated from idiot to english this reads "I want a more unsafe birth for my child because I cant handle my emotions"
@sisi73044 жыл бұрын
actually, if you watch to the end, he ends up going to the hospital because the baby was in distress, so he didn't want an unsafe birth, he wanted safety & correct pronouns, also it's not about "handling emotions", misgendering feels physically painful for some trans & non-binary people, I know it does for me, and he literally described the birth as traumatic to a certain degree

I don't understand either. I'm a cis female and can't stand the idea of giving birth at all, it looks horrific. As a trans man, wouldn't that be a million times worse?! Not only would he have to go through the pain, which is already traumatic for many women, but with dysphoria as well? I don't understand why people feel the need to have their biological child, they can do it if they want to, but it makes absolutely no sense at all.

I am female, 55yrs old and do try to be understanding of all people, races and sexual preferences, I have got quite angry watching this, expecting people to relate and accept you as "male" yet you want the privilege of being a mother. You cant expect to be taken seriously, you can not have the best of both worlds when it suits. I was hoping to learn something today but I am sadly more confused and feel its a misguided representation of the people trying to find their own identity and to be accepted for that.

When the midwife said " if you give pain meds to laboring women they'll take it" she was referring to other pregnant women not him . They both made the midwife feel like she misgendered him but she didn't. And honestly even though I respect everyone and their choices but I too wudve definitely thought he's a female just by the looks

You choosing to be public with the process is going to give a lot of relief to other transgender people who are in the same position of wanting a family but not knowing if they can go through with it. Congratulations for the birth and health of your son and good luck on your future hormone treatments. You will always have people who support you.

ricardo rocha Agreed. This vid is completely asinine. WOMEN get pregnant, give birth and BREASTfeed. You can't completely disassociate yourself from your womanhood so much so that you HATE a feminine picture in your likeness....but then turn around and fully take advantage of the opportunity to live femininity in its peak essence by giving birth AND going so far as to breastfeed (all whole changing the name to suit your own agenda). And to add insult to injury- feel a way about not being called a man! 🤦As women, we are life-givers.... If you want to be a life-maker, then adopt, as pregnancy and all that it entails is completely the DEFINITION of femininity and being a woman. It's what separates us from our male counterparts. Again... No judgements here. I merely pointed out the irony. 🤷

Also, I feel like the ability to go through a pregnancy is a gift, and many women are unable to do so. Many infertile women becoming extremely depressed.
