I like how you used a pdp/8 also. I started learning programming on the pdp/8 in about 1978 and it had an asr33 teletype, dectapes, pal8, teco and "os2", of course. But I want to say that the 4k core DID retain its content after a power cycle, iirc. BTW: I'm 63 and you look younger than me. Thanks for the great presentation! Subscribed.

Oh cool. I love computer architecture and allow level languages in my CS degree. I don’t know if a CS degree can take me down that route but I’ll see. Maybe I’ll just be a typical software engineer. Cool story though :)

Kaljo Valk this is the wrong way to look at. this is the beginners fault to look for the highest paying jobs just do where you get energy from eventually that will bring better salary

I obtained a wide spectre of knowledge while purposely studying 3 fields at the same time, software-, mechanical & electronic engineering for 4 years. I planned to go to whatever pays the most. I do what it takes, do not have such thing like don't like to do. But I guess I shine the most in Software Engineering & Development. I actually studied Software engineering in Java... PS: from my research, there is 1 Job ad for an Embedded software engineer in my country atm. And 140 ads in the IT field. So pick a guess where to go....:D

Depends in india Its 1.2 million rs per anum for the standard engineering professional. Thats 6 times per capita income of India.
