I only want to wax as a esthetician, I’m currently in school. How do I convey that during interviews
@ArielleAnne4 жыл бұрын
Paris Smith Look for a job where they focus on waxing such as a wax bar for example or a place where they are looking to hire a wax specialist. There’s quite a few if you look into it. If you get an interview in a place where they have other services that you’re really not interested in doing, just be vocal & honest about it from the start. They’ll either appreciate you for your honesty and hire you for what you truly want to do or you move on to the next opportunity. You’ll find a place to work for sure!

I graduate highschool next year and I want to be a medical esthetician but don’t know how long it would take and if I need to go to college for it
@ArielleAnne4 жыл бұрын
You become a medical once you are working under a licensed doctor and in medical settings. You would need to get your esthetician license first. The program is usually in between a few months to a year depending on the school.

Where is this scrub top from? You learned nail care in esthetician school? That’s cool, we don’t learn that in the US! This was a good video!
@ArielleAnne4 жыл бұрын
Lexlo Got it at a beauty convention event in Montreal years ago. We do learn about nail care [ from taking care of the natural nails to gel polish techniques ] in school in Canada but yes, unfortunately, it’s not part of the program in the US. 😔 & Thank you! 😊

I enjoyed your video. It was soo very helpful. I’m already a Registered Nurse of 8 years but currently looking at schools to attend for esthetician. Do you think longer programs are better than shorter programs? I’ve heard your hands on training after school was most important for some. I just don’t wanna be in school longer than necessary.
@ArielleAnne4 жыл бұрын
Briana Leverett I’m glad that it helped you out! 🙏🏽 I personally don’t think they are necessarily better because it’s longer. It really depends on how fast you’ll learn and get to cover all the different services & theory. I will definitely say that the longer the program, the more time you get to practise services and get to experience different things with someone supervising you, guiding you, correcting you and answering your questions on site. You can practise basically everyday so more prep for the real world.

So you can work in the spa while in school ?
@ArielleAnne4 жыл бұрын
Chasity Coffee Yes, you can but it may vary depending on the position that you are trying to fulfill. Most likely, you can become an assistant or even work at the reception, something that doesn’t require a specific license.
@valenextdoor264 жыл бұрын
can i be both an esthetician and a medical esthetician ? do they have separate licenses?
@ArielleAnne4 жыл бұрын
69bluts There’s no specific license for you to become a medical esthetician. Both have the same esthetician license but what makes them a medical esthetician is the fact that they work in a medical setting/environment and under a licensed doctor.

Do they make you cut off your nails and wear only clear nail polish in school/salon?
@ArielleAnne4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the school, the teacher and chapter that you're covering but yes. I had to cut my nails short and wear clear/light pink for a while. This mostly happens when you're covering the skincare chapters for hygiene purposes since you are touching people's faces and overall skin. Dirt and products can accumulate and stay stuck under your nails & you can hurt/scratch the person that you're working on as well.
@annastarichenkova21014 жыл бұрын
@@ArielleAnne Thank you for answering! I really love doing my nails and paint them creatively, so to me it would be too sad to leave that behind 😢 I saw some estheticians with painted nails though.
@ArielleAnne4 жыл бұрын
@@annastarichenkova2101 I completely understand but if that happens, it would be for a short period until you’re done with your chapters. You’re free to do whatever you want with your nails after those. Ask the school before enrolling if anything. They might not even require that.

Question! ... Do you need to have your Aesthetician certificate to go to school for (for example) eyelashes or micro-blading first??
@ArielleAnne4 жыл бұрын
Depends on where you are located (country and state) but not necessarily. Some states require that you have at least a facial specialist license to perform any services on a client’s face and to be legit. In montreal, for example, you can get your eyelash technician certification without being an aesthetician and be okay to work on clients.
