Always felt he must have been lord of Umbar or a similar haven further south. Not exactly a king per say, but some other princely title. The reason is that he chooses to sit the throne in Fornost after conquering Arnor. Hinting at desiring a throne and title of King. Same with the taunting of the Gondorian king into a personal duel. Great video. I liked the echo, but perhaps not for everyone.

GRRM loved Tolkien. He used a bunch of names for his universe from the story of Middle Earth. Balerion the Black Dread is another. I know there’s several more but I’m too hungover to think. Glad you caught that tho.

Would the rings work as advertised if the one ring hadn’t been made? Or were they doomed due to Sauron’s influence even without the one? And without the one ring would there be a difference between the Elvin rings and dwarf/men rings?

The Witch-king of Angmar, was said to be a Sorceress, used black magic along with 8 others in his royal staff, and had the title black Numenorean (and were mortal human beings). Sauron disguised as the spirit of gifts: Anntar, and gave the 9 mortal men 9 rings of power. These rings Sauron had touched with his hands. He had Celebrimbor, have his elven smiths forge these rings. In the mountain "Doom" in Mordor's fire, "Sauron" alone forged a ruling ring. He fills it with a part of his powers in it. Puts it on his finger. His spirit takes on a body. On his head: he has a similar crown as: Morgoth has. Also the 9 men become 9 Ringwraiths called The Nazgul. The Witch King was the other 8 commander, and he himself was the ninth. The Nazgul were: Sauron's deadliest and most dangerous army of all his loyal servants. And in the movies I remember him bragging about himself. When he met other men. He always said: You fool! No man can kill me. But Eowyn (from the kingdom of Rohan) confronted the Witch-king. He said the same thing to her. She saved King Theoden of Rohan (because she called him uncle). The hobbit who rode with her stuck a Barrow sword from behind into one of the witch-king's legs (the back of the knee). Result: He was wounded. Then she tore off her helmet and shouted: I am no man. And thrust her sword into the Witch-king's mouth. And then he was defeated. Only the armor remained. His spirit had vanished. Eowyn said: Uncle I'll help you up. Theoden replied: Eowyn I'm done, my legs are already broken, but you saved me. Thanks. Theoden died in peace.
