Yes, I looked over at our beach house property and there he was... making a lechon duck! This is definitely a unique Filipino roasted food, and the way it was cooked made it really delicious! This is just another raw life video from our beach home in Cateel, Davao Oriental. From cooking unique lechon, to going for a paddle in the ocean, to buying some purple ice cream and chatting about life!
Yup, just another day living in Davao Mindanao...
And eating unique duck lechon... balut duck lechon!

Three things: 1. That line in the water is a phenomenon when two bodies of water that have different characteristics (e.g. fresh and salt water, osmolality, etc.) merge and it's where they meet that the line is formed. 2. Pato and Itik are two different species and should not be confused one from the other. Pato or Muscovy duck is larger while Itik is the Philippine mallard that farmers raise for commercial balut production. 3. Makapuno is produced by an aberrant or mutant coconut tree. Such naturally occuring mutant tree produces 2-20% makapuno of its fruits while genetically engineered coconuts (thanks to biotechnology and insatiable human demand) produces 70-80% macapuno fruits.

Jandee is LEGENDARY!!! I couldn't believe he was going to lechon the ducks all by himself because it takes so long and need to keep 'em turning. Good thing Sammy was there to help. Maybe you can get him a motor to do the turning for his birthday. Now, Jandee has one arm bigger than the other!!! 💪😝 That's probably why he ended up going the wrong way when he was backwards paddling. 🤣

In the old days, they cook and bake in their pugon, at least that’s how people in Europe do. Pugon is not widely used in the PI except for baking bread but the concept is the same when making puto maya, remember coals on top, coals on the bottom.

Just an added note, Kulas...inserting boric acid or borid at the bottom base of each post should catch any potential termites early, spreading to the others as they move through and around the wood. Better yet, a small drill hole from one end of the post to the other right through center and filled with Borid would be sure to do the trick. Borid is also one of the most ecofriendly pest prevention materials in the world! 😉

Jandee litson duck is more delicious and palatable totaste if we use fruit trees wood as our firewood. We can save some stem, or branch when cut or prune tress. Citrus wood is the best. I learned this from peking duck litson shared from someone. Try nyo daw guys.

Chef Jonhdy is barbecuing 3 itik!! 😋🎉🙃 Dong Kulas, ayaw sa ug buhat ug intense and aggressive water paddling activities kay mas grabeh ug mabughat ka, kay musamot na kadugay imohang healing! You have to chill a bit in that part dong, hinay hinay ba, like what ‘bisor’ Kumar said to grab a chair and sit beside him and ‘chillax’ when it’s time to do so, lol 😝 ...every after meal , Filipinos and other Spanish or Latin countries do the siesta time , or in the western world they call it ‘food coma’ esp when your dishes has heavy carbs like rice, pastas, pizzas , potatoes and other carb and starchy loaded food! The carbs weakens you and will pull you to snooze right after a heavy meal, whether you like it or not, hehehe😴 The beach is blues than blue today and loving the drone aerial shots! Your manong team workers are fantastic, and brings good vibes to the vlogs. Maybe if you can humbly and kindly allow them to have siesta on your main floor house to snooze and chill after lunch for a siesta break so won’t be too hot or rainy out there somewhere for them. And would suggest if you can buy lots of throw pillows in different sizes to use up on the main floor to chill on and sleep on, those that you can wash the pillowcases and put the pillows under the sun every other day to kill some old bacteria in it esp when a lot of people are using ‘em all, twill be very useful and helpful to sit around with, just a suggestion. And bean bags around that main floor will be fun too and nice to siesta on!!😉🙃😁👍💪🌴🏖🏝🌴 island coastal beach life is the best!! Best regards to Mama Rose and her team! 🙏🎉🇵🇭😎🎼🎶🎶🎼🎵🎵 You guys need a music boxes all around the house to play on all day so to give more fun energy around the house and outside too so workers will enjoy it while working, another suggestion!
