The chocolate trivia is interesting but not surprising. The Philippines was under The Viceroyalty of New Spain once which is now known as Mexico. Our primary influence was not from Spain itself but from Mexico via the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. Interestingly during World War II, Mexico sent the 201st Fighter Squadron with volunteer Mexican airmen to help liberate the Philippines in 1945. So Mexicans and Filipinos are brothers/sisters at heart. Jo-Koy was right, Filipinos are the Asian Mexicans. :P
