Když jsem slyšela poprvé takhle celou "Má vlast",bylo mi asi 10 let. Seděla jsem v divadle a bylo to poprvé, co mě něco dojalo tak, že jsem brečela :) Kdo nebyl v Praze, nemůže snad ani tolik pochopit, jak to vyjadřuje Prahu líp, než nějaký obraz, pohled, nebo film. A Tábor a Blaník... to samé :) Miluji Mou (i mou) vlast :)

This concert is, by tradition, preceded by the entrance of the President of the Republic, announced with the Fanfare from the Opera "Libuše". Here in 2013, President Milos Zeman appears in th presidential box, something he has not done in recent years. And then the Czech national anthem is played. The Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France gives a very fine and moving performance of Smetana's masterpiece Ma vlast!

Je suis Québécois et j'ai été voir une spectacle de musique classique dans cette salle justement en 2013 mais au mois de Décembre ,j'y ai passé une semaine à Prague ,une si belle ville et tellement de beau souvenir .Je reviens voir ce vidéo de temps en temps car j'adore cette musique .

I used to dislike it when live recordings would pick up all the audience noises during the breaks between movements (coughs, chairs creaking, etc), but now it just makes me feel more like I'm right there with everyone. I must be overdue to go to the symphony in person again!

Beautiful performance of one of my favourite compositions. The sound engineers have done a fantastic job with their microphone placements. Shame the encoding has spoiled the audio slighly. You really notice it with headphones.

It is not unusual to have more horns than what the orchestration says. If the string section is very large, that can be useful. Moreover, horn is very difficult to play and tiring, they sometimes are alternating the voices to be more comfortable.

that would make sense--I, too, see sometimes 5 horns for symphony concerts--that alternative horn could be taking over lead--horn indeed is difficult instrument--

I am sorry, but I really don't like this version. There are so many things that I am used to hear differently and at important places, it's almost sounds like something else than Smetana to me.

@mrkv4k ... I heard _Ma Vlaste_ first in 1974 [BBC R3, Kubelik/Prague SF opening concert/Czech PO] and have since enjoyed many interpretations. I follow with an old conductor's score' and found tempi and dynamics much as marked. What did you find amiss?
