It wasn't really a joke. I just said "you know who we're talking about" and then "Gerald" was the first name I thought of. Then I thought it would be funny to put someone's picture up there, like he was the friend we were talking about. Then it turns out it's a photo of an actor who was actually in Return of the Jedi, so now it seems like some esoteric inside joke, which it's not. Just random nonsense.

I went to college with Pete Dinklage and saw him play Iago in Othello. It was obvious then that the guy was a total genius. I'm glad Hollywood has gotten over many of its prejudices to the point that Pete is getting his due and then some.

I just found Bedazzled on Netflix a few nights ago. I watched it only because of this episode and I LOVED it. It is interesting to see your own perspective change as Stanley's does
I had no idea that the Fraser was a remake. I love Dudley Moore though, so I'm gonna check it out.

I'm trying to say this without seeming mean. I... Kind of forget about you guys. Like, this entire channel, for weeks, or sometimes even months on end. I'm subscribed, so your stuff *should* be coming up on my feed, but I miss it. I'm kind of okay with it though, because then i get to "re-discover" you, and i have a ton of stuff to watch, and before i know it, it's 4 am, and I'm still burning through videos. It's awesome. Anyway, thanks for all the laughs, and keep doing what you're doing.

I had an epiphany watching this episode. I've learned that I have horrible taste in movies. I keep seeing movies that the critics hate, and I love them half the time. I see movies that all my friends figured out the twist to in the first ten minutes, but I never see it coming. I've got about a 50-50 track record with movies that have cult followings. But I'll keep watching, because DAMMIT, I love seeing film broken down and explained. I love that look into other folks' reasoning.

I finally watched Harvey (1950) for the first time ever a couple days ago and because I mis-remembered the Tom Waits joke in this episode I kept waiting for Elwood to say "The donuts have names like prostitutes". It was very, very weird. :)

Seen it? "The Burning" from 1981, it's a really good and rather unexpected slasher film combined with a sex comedy. "Repo! The Genetic Opera" a crazy good rock opera musical with a really interesting setting. "The Cabin in the Woods" a really unexpected twist on the slasher horror genre.

How about checking out the Bedazzled remake with Brendan Fraser? Be interesting for you guys to watch a remake of something your already seen, so you can compare and contrast. Plus, when I saw part of the remake in a motel when I was 15, I thought it was funny enough to go rent it to watch all of it. I want to know if I had any taste when I was that age.

As much as I love Spielberg, I was beyond relieved when his plan to remake "Harvey" fell through. I'm not opposed to remaking old movies if they could stand an update, but this particular film is utter perfection. There's nothing you could possibly add to it. it stands to lose everything and gain nothing. Filmmakers seriously need to learn to keep their hands off of fixing what isn't broken. Even if you're Spielberg.

Hey Matt, did you see the 2000 version of Bedazzled starring Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. If so what did you think of it?
@DrCarstairs11 жыл бұрын
Okay - recommendation - how about "Bedazzled"? The Brendan Fraser/Elizabeth Hurley version from 2000. Its different that the original, but fun in its own way. And, lets face it, Satan is far more likely to appear as Hurley than as Cook. It would make a wonderful juxtaposition with this episode. Love the show, keep up the great work.

Please review or discuss Fandango, the 1985 road trip comedy that is in reality a much deeper introspective about how we deal with becoming adults after college. Kevin Reynolds' directorial debut, Kevin Costner's first (and arguably best) starring role, and Judd Nelson's movie debut. A killer soundtrack. The skydiving scene alone makes it worth watching. My all-time favorite movie.

I don't know if you guys realize that a great deal of your fan-base loves the "Seen It" portion of your show so much that, if you dedicated a new show, only evolving you two reviewing movies(new and old), that you would probably get the same amount of viewers(if not more). This is the 3rd episode I've seen and I like this series it's interesting, and it's thrown me for a loop with some of the titles I've seen/heard of several of the remakes (Wicker man and Bedazzled) but it's cool to see the original versions. For myself personally I prefer the 90's bedazzled (I like Brendan Fraser, and it was entertaining.) This was cool to learn about though

I personally like the newer Bedazzled, it takes the old ones premise and does the parts they talk about even better: God isn't an asshole, Brendan Frasier goes from meak to 'man', the romantic interest is better looking and the wishes are so much more interesting.

Speaking of good ol' Mr. Waits, have you seen Jim Jarmusch's "Coffee and Cigarettes"? It's a compilation of various actors, musicians and comedians having conversations while they drink coffee and smoke. Waits' vignette with Iggy Pop is awkwardly hilarious. Same goes for Bill Murray's talk with RZA and GZA.

For "Seen It," there are two films I'd love to see you cover. The first is George Romero's Knightriders, which is perhaps the finest film about a traveling Renaissance Faire on motorcycles ever made.
