Toyota GT86 vs RX8 at Bedford Autodrome. This video was taken in October 2016. I also put in a pretty quick fast lap.

Not a bad lap but with your setup and AD08R tyres I would expect to go quicker. A stripped out e36 328 sport with 224/45 Sport Contact 5's with 2 up (roughly the same power to weight) can consistently do under 3 mins and 2:55.x hot lap. There is room for improvement of lines, braking etc.

If the GT86 was stock I doubt it would beat the RX8, especially a PZ Prodrive version. But you had R rated tyres too, no contest unless the RX8 had them too…

When I had an RX8 I always wanted to see a road test between it and the far newer GT86 but no one did one? I noticed the RX8 driver was missing his apex’s all the tine so obviously not as good a driver as you I have a Cayman S now so the road test is irrelevant now! Lol 😂

Mazda wants a set of your AD08R's and an alignment! would be more evenly matched on corner entry, mid and exit. Yours even pre-SC has a torque advantage and obviously better brakes but it looks like you mostly won on mid corner.

RX8 had R888s (arguably a better tyre), coilovers, chassis bracing, was stripped with buckets and a straight through exhaust. Also was the 231 model, so higher top end BHP vs 86. Also he wasn't carrying a passenger and I had Jason's heavy ass ;P. We caught him very quickly, unfortunately the GoPro wasn't on from the start of the session, which I seem to have a terrible habit of doing.

86TrackDriver the Mazda fanboi and underdog supporter in me wanted to give the RX8 driver an excuse for getting chopped :-( heaps of body-roll visible on that car, surprising that it's on coilovers tbh. still, he looked to be having fun and making mad noises, which is all that matters!

It was a really fun day, we played around a lot, letting each other go past so we could chase. He was super safe and we exchanged numbers, so I will invite him to future track days. The car was SORN and quite old, he picked it up for £1.5k I think, so bushes and suspension may be a little ropey? Sounded immense though.

TheAlex0903 my engine died... and it was sad to watch. Crazy hight Fuel and oil consumtion, lack of power, hot start you can forget it.. etc...
