What a drive. Low boost. Really. That's pretty cool.

I just love your friendship/chemistry. And of course ric has done a beautiful job on that vehicle

Thank you. I thought I'd retired but Andrew has called me up for another two day rally in a few weeks time. Another video perhaps. It'll be a pleasure getting back into that terrific car. And RX8 (road car) review coming next week with Ric as special guest driver.

I'd love a low boost with good power band like this.

“Oh my goodness”🤣🤣🤣. We drive that road regularly, it’s often very cold & wet & even icy at the top . A higher gear is often your best friend😊

I used to do that climb in winter twice a week for a few years in an Audi 100 5e cd. I once boiled the petrol in the tank near the top as the exhaust was so hot near the tank. And descending I used snow to put out the front brakes that caught fire. After a big storm it was also a nice ski run.

That got pretty hairy at the end! Great footage. The hardest part is conveying how fast that really is.

what is RX-8SP supposed to mean ? i dont know that model type
@AJZulu8 ай бұрын
The SP badge on any other Mazda model would basically mean "Special Edition". But as far as I know there isn't any official RX8 SP models out there. This one is just rebadged from Australia. By the company that built this RX8 turbo there.

Is it renesis or rew?

Hi Chris. Based on RX7 not Renesis.

I think a NA Rx8 (non turbo) engine would’ve been quicker, especially on such a tight & damp course. In addition, not having all that additional weight at the front end with the turbo, intercooler & additional piping makes a better balanced handling car. By having use of the higher revs available, there would be less time wasted on all the short shifting. Great drive & video otherwise!

Interesting thought. I really doubt it as that turbo torque our of corners and up the hill was invaluable. We even passed a Cayman GT4 uphill at one point (future video coming) and I doubt a NA RX8 would do that. But I'll get Andrew's opinion on that. He's the category manager for the RX8 Cup series and he owns a 40th anniversary NA RX8 as well (which we'll review shortly) so he knows the NA cars very well. But thanks!

N/A wouldn't be able to even with port work and bolt ons you'd be lucky to cross 210 wheel hp. If this makes 350, the power would be just so down when you need it. Anyways. Wow that was greasy. Wicked demonstration of how great the RX8 can be as a hillclimb machine. We know it's far from stock but the chassis is so good and balanced.
