If anybody is going to make curtains like this for French doors, you can buy a set of curtain rods that are specifically for this purpose. If you have insulated metal doors, you can buy magnetic ones, which is what I did.
@cmitchell7347Ай бұрын
Opted for sash rods on French doors, in the past, and really liked the look and ease of use. Appreciate what MaCenna wanted to accomplish, here, but the fabric, especially with it being doubled, feels a bit heavy, IMO. (If it's a sturdy linen or drapery weight, that may the issue. A lightweight, printed cotton could be doubled and not be as thick.) Understand the desire for privacy, but loved how not having the glass covered made the rooms feel more spacious and bright. Given that she used the ribbed glass in the kitchen, there are glass films which replicate that look and might've afforded blocking the view while still allowing for light to pass through.

I love the look of the curtains.The difference in the sound when you are inside your bedroom is because you now have the fabric absorbing the sound waves instead of them bouncing back at you off of a hard surface. That is why theaters always have fabric walls with sound boards behind them.

MaCenna, I’m glad to see you glow again. Your plan of action it working ❤. Side note for curtains try use “expanding covered curtain wire” you can cut length and add cup hooks ( they small hooks so get the right size). You can buy it in a set. Also, I grew up with an on suite bathroom and now I’m living in a beautiful vintage home but the bathroom is sharing ( detached from bedrooms). I no longer mind it as it’s just my little family who shares it on the top floor and guests use the bathroom below ( our guest room is also on the bottom floor for context). This is your home so make it how it works for you! You can always swap or build on/up.

@gailwalls8124Ай бұрын
@@sherrymeurerit is an Elna Supra that I bought in 1974 brand new. Mechanical not electronic, has cams for different stitches. It is a workhorse. Had to have brushes replaced in San Antonio about 10 years ago by Grome's. Everybody wanted to sell me a new machine but I persevered and found a reputable sewing shop that actually did work in-house and made it new again. I have seen that model sold on EBay. It is all metal housing so it is heavier than new models. I bought mine when I was 22 yrs old and had a Kenmore prior to getting it. It is a wonderful machine. Unfortunately Elna sold out to Janome and new models are not as sturdy as that one. I have been sewing since age 8 and learned on an Elna that my mom had from the 50's-also a great machine!

Same in the UK, my mother uses them for her net curtains. I have asthma and personally am not a fan of the look of nets so have window film on my bedroom windows for privacy and nothing on the living room windows (apartment life so they are my only windows). I think her curtains are great for her more traditional aesthetic but I'd have picked a window film in maybe a reed effect or something similar, to get the wanted privacy but still have the light be able to come through. I lean pretty heavily on the contemporary side for my personal aesthetic but I appreciate what others do in their spaces, especially when it's more appropriate for an older home = more traditional leaning Vs newer build, more contemporary style. I take issue with people who buy older houses and rip out features like coving, fireplaces etc. if that's your aesthetic don't gut what makes an older home special, there's plenty of homes built in the last 60 /70 years that contemporary and clean lines work in without sucking the soul out of the house.
