You'll save a lot on heating cost if your attic was insulated. I had my daughter and a friend help blow in cellulose insulation in my attic and what a HUGE difference it meant. Great to see all the fantastic improvements and projects you are working on. You would make the first home owner proud!

The way professionals do a textured ceiling is to thin out the joint compound then roll it on with a roller and come behind right away with a brush or other tool to make the design.

You did a great job on your ceiling I had to get the Styrofoam glue up ceiling tiles is what I used to cover/hide the ugly ceiling we had.

I removed my entire house’s popcorn ceiling by wetting really well. It comes off as a paste, not so hard, or messy. Thank you for sharing

I scraped back to solid texturing in my old farmhouse-as long as the issue causing it to break free is resolved- you can stippel (retexture) the areas that lost their plaster. It takes some time to figure out the design and depth of texture to replicate it but its very do-able.

Happy New Year! 🎉 What a nice gift to the boys in the room makeovers. FYI, you can lay a base layer joint compound down and let that dry. Then you can buy a few cans of texture compound to match the old texture and just spray it on over the dry base. It comes in a can similar to spray paint size. It's sold at big box and hardware stores.

There’s the spray on texturizer that looks just like the rest of the ceiling. My brother used it on his ceiling and it looked perfect. Also I would insulate the attic and put plywood down. It’s easier to walk on and and not to slip and go through the ceiling below it.

Rainy Day by Benjamin Moore is the paint colour. I also used it somewhere else int he house that I have not shown yet!! Its such a cozy and warm colour. it is a little blueish even sometimes in some lighting

I lived in a rental on an acreage. It was 3,500 sq ft and every room had a different color of carpet. That made the house look small inside. If you want to individualize rooms just paint because paint is a much cheaper option than flooring. I can't wait to see how this room turns out. In the heat of summer walking into a dark room is like walking into a cool cave. He will forever remember his green bedroom!

Is that popcorn ceiling? We had that in our home on the main floor! Literally took a hand held pump spray with warm water and soaked the ceiling and scraped the popcorn right off!

this is like a popcorn ceiling yes except its not the type that scraps off easily like the newer aged type.

You should take the decals, and make a collage, to put in a picture frame. That way they will not be thrown out and forgotten.

We just bought a house where the previous owner was a heavy smoker. We used Kiltz on the walls before painting to remove the scents and stains. It's expensive stuff but worked really well.

Happy New Year English family! Just a reminder about painting the stucco ceiling. You have likely researched this already but you should use an oil based paint to prime first so the stucco does not crumble. Chase’s room will look fabulous when completed!!

Elysia, Since Chase is color drenching, it would be cool to use your jigsaw expertise or the cricut & put his name or his favorite phrase as a raised image that gets drenched, too. Like damasked, it will show up through the light & shadows, like the trim does...just a thought. hUgz from Ohio
