Licensing. Wait, no -- research. The first thing to worry about is that City Hall won't come after you (assuming you own the place). Any time you even break a big hole into a wall it could be considered "construction" by City Hall, so first research what kind of home renovation licenses City Hall has and when they kick in. Then research safety in regards to insulation and electrical wiring. Be warned, if breaking off walls and things reveals health hazards like molds, or structural hazards like rotting studs, or fire hazards like crumbling wiring... The price tag could climb sky high (on the plus side, it would be good for your health to know these things).
@FatimaHama5 жыл бұрын
Thank you all so much for your replies and time. I'm not american and I don't live in the US, over here the walls are made using bricks and they are rock solid taking down a wall is a much more complex thing as it requires more than removing the nails and attachments and tearing it down. you need real heavy construction and a consultation with an engineer beforehand so the whole house doesn't fall down of your head

Those built-ins are awesome! A $7,000 value-added, probably a bit more. New windows, energy efficient heat, new lighting, new insulation - and the floor! Most excellent! Beautiful work. Well thought out plan. A few finishing touches will send it over the top… the little battery operated lights that come on when a door or drawer open! Wow you won’t believe it, no having to turn on lights in the dark, plus better to see what’s in there. And paint the ceiling a color. Our painter thought I was INSANE when I said I wanted blue, but boy it is beautiful! He actually uses my rooms in his portfolio. I love that you insulated everything, it helps muffle sounds so much.
