Reminds me of me. My first house was a total rebuild. It was in rough shape, brick ranch. The biggest thing I did was gut the site built kitchen. Built cabinets in my garage base and upper to a style from a magazine. Solid maple fronts, poplar boxes. Got it all done then sold it, moved to larger house ( kids) needed more room!! Sounds familiar huh!!!! Now I’m retired carpenter forty years just did small alterations and maintenance to the newer house. Just installed new garage door opener today. First one lasted twenty years. YOU DO NICE WORK👍

I have been watching you for a while now. And I didn’t even realize you were the same person when I would look up how to do things such as making stairs. I have a crawlspace that I need to make stairs for and am doing that now. I finally brave enough to try this. I am a disabled woman and have a fixed income and my CV listen have lives and jobs so I have to do my home improvements on my own. So I made my stairs and didn’t take into account the small space that I had to work with and I had to adjust for only a couple of stairs but I am finishing the stairs today. No I did not record the process. It is so much harder to do without your guidance and you make everything seem so much easier. I had tried to patch my walls in my bathroom bc my father had bought this house originally for my brother who destroyed the house so I helped him repair the home and he made so many shortcuts and half assed his way through the home since he was on a time crunch. My bathroom is awful and I tried to smooth the walls but it did not turn out as good a so could have been so now my decision is to take all of the walls out and level the floor and fix the toilet so it is closer to the wall and I have more room in the tiny bathroom. I also watched your bathroom remodel and it has inspired me to do it the right way. My son does flooring and tiling so I’ll leave that to him but I can do the floor joists and the drywall. And I bought the lights you bought for your bedroom to repair my lighting in my house. I do not have lights in the kitchen co en or back bedroom and I had an appointment electrician come out. He says I have power to my fixtures but the fixtures are too old and need to be replaced. I have a drop ceiling in my house hat my dad put in but the lights will stick to the tiles so I am excited to get my house back under control. And I have you to thank for it. I would love it if I could message you if I run into issues that I cannot remedy myself. But wish me luck bc I’m tired of having a house that is half a**. Thank you for you wonderful videos and your positivenees in your videos.

Honestly, I'm glad someone has taken it upon themselves to document how we used to make built-ins in middle class tract homes in the 90s, so the next generation knows! The door frame for the closet was just forced perspective, no mistake was made! ;) If you want a ton of money, just have your bank change about $2,900 to pennies.

Loved this timelapse with commentary. I still would love your feedback on a previous question of mine = how much extra $$$$ did you generate on all your renovations vs if you did none at all, when you sold the house. I'm not looking for personal private financial info, just an estimate in the extra value obtained for your renovations. As an example, some would say if you spend $5,000 on a kitchen renovation one would benefit upon sale with an extra $10,000 in the sale price. Just curious. Continued success to you and your family. Looking forward to your new house room by room renovations. Sincerely.

OK, quick question - maybe I missed it in the original video, but why did you not use primer on the drywall? Was that a paint/primer combo? And if so, did it actually do what it claimed?
@TheFixerHomeRepair4 ай бұрын
Ahhh good question! I did use a primer/paint combo, it seamed to work out in this room but after doing the bathroom and the living room with it, I gave up. I will always prime newly finished drywall. Or if I am painting over dark paint with light. I have heard it is a gimmick and I am starting to believe it. Hope this helps! And thanks for being a loyal subscriber!

@@TheFixerHomeRepair OK - good info. I generally follow the advice of Jeff Thorman (@HomeRenoVisionDIY), so I use primer (and SW paints) every time.
@TheFixerHomeRepair4 ай бұрын
Yeah I think it’s a good idea. I think the brand doesn’t matter so much as a lot of brands offer different qualities of paint. I still use Behr a lot but try to buy the best product they offer when it matters. I have used SW and it is definitely top of the line but you will pay top of the line prices for it. 👍
