I really needed this one. My relationship just ended but I’ll be transparent, I am now 9 months sober from alcohol and my drinking contributed greatly to the deterioration of my relationship. And ironic how sobriety really revealed a lot of problems. And I was able to “sit it it” and understand what it was that I did wrong. Even so, it’s time to not feel sad and get after it. I had the same mentality until 2 months ago when, my wife who I still think is the best person, after 16 years, just up and left me for another man. What I learned = always stay on your toes and never get comfortable, no matter how much you trust your spouse. Edit: and she did it while I am still on the upwards trajectory in my life and work. We went through some tough times and it finally got better, we started living our best life and she left for another man. So yeah, as I said - never get too comfortable.
