My cousin did this to her husband. They had two beautiful girls together. She met a guy on a girl’s trip to Florida, brought him back home, and told her husband she was leaving. Btw she was pregnant with the bum’s kid. He fell off the wagon and ended up drinking himself to death. I haven’t spoken to her in 17 years. Three years ago, she contacted my husband on Facebook and then sent me a message too. She said she missed me and my sister and wanted to reconnect and that the family’s fallout (an entirely different dumpster fire of a story on their part) didn’t involve us because we were kids and we should move past it. I slept on it for a few days and talked to my parents and decided to say nothing and block her. Regardless of family issues between my dad and her mom (siblings) and their mother (my grandma), she’s still a POS for what she did to her husband and her kids. I refuse to associate with that. Let her stay gone. She’s not worth the dogsht on your shoe.

My ex spouse left me and our two children for another man earlier this year. Out of the blue, just ended it abruptly and without warning. Blamed me for everything and jumped ship, living her “best” life the entire time. I was angry, confused, lost, heartbroken, destroyed. I lost my identity as a loyal husband and caring father literally overnight. With no one to talk to about the experience. I had an existential crisis and was completely forced to look at everything in my life. Anyways, fast forward 10 months later and I’m nearly fully healed. Anything my ex spouse does these days no longer triggers me. She buys me or the kids food, brings stuff over from her trips and while I used to throw it away out of anger, i just accept it and let it be. I’m Indifferent, I’m “healed” from the betrayal. I no longer wish her bad luck. All that matters now is the children and the new life that I have as a single father. And you know what, it’s been awesome so far. You may not see it yet, but having this person out of the way is actually a blessing in disguise. Life truly does move on.

I went through this 26 years ago. The wife left me with out two young children and a new mortgage. She was having an affair with the building supervisor of our new home. Fortunately, our new home was based on my income alone. I soon realized that I had been alone in the marriage for years. She refused to help me with our kids and the daily/weekly chores. Intimacy was rare between us and most of the time I got yelled at for trying. She tried in her own manipulative way to come back after two months. There was no remorse or an apology. I'm 42 yo and I'm facing the exact same situation with my ex-wife. She left for someone else last year and for the last 3 years I couldn't see it comming. I felt miserable at first, but my family, friends and God have helped me to put myself up and runnig during the past 5 months so I would be here to my three kids. I hope it helps anybody who is facing the same sh!t: Things will get better! And if you have the right support, it will get better faster. Never be alone. Get God at your side and openly talk to your family and friends (what you feel right) so they can help you get up and hold you whenever you need. Custody is not decided based on the hurt feelings of the spouse that was cheated on, it is based on who can be a consistent caregiver. To think that he is perfect would be naive, he chose her for a reason. Stupidity or red flags of his own, either way looks bad. Also, most men can't stand to be single, and would gladly throw their kids under the bus and find a younger woman to build a new family with. Not good for the kids. Friends. When you meet regularly with friends it needs to be single/divorced friends. Happily Married people are not good to lean on, they can’t relate. Someone that’s been down this road is your rock. Make sure to listen to what they’re going through too. Watch something on tv or KZbin you know will make you laugh. I watched 3 stooges to get me through. I only watched for 10 min every 3 days. It gave me something to look forward to and my mind learned to take a break from the stress.

I want my kids to actually know their dad, not just his money. If my future husband ends up getting a job that requires travel, then it would need to be something that allows us to travel together where he could still be home every night and I could home school the kids if necessary. For example, my bf spoke of possible missionary work, which we agree that the whole family would go. That is the only way I would agree to that. My bf and I both grew up in 2 parent homes, where our dads were technically home but weren't present. And if they had something to say or more likely yell, it was mostly negative. Bf grew up poor. I grew up middle class. We are shooting for middle class, but if the Lord blesses us with more, then great. But our vision is a God-led marriage, a comfortable living, and a house filled with love in action and word, and appreciation for even the little things. We're both frugal. He saves tons because he is very handy and can handle a lot of house and car maintenance himself. I'm a pro at saving, budgeting, meal prepping, etc. You'd be surprised what people spend excessively on (e.g. Starbucks every day, eating out multiple days a week, doordashing and instacarting everything, excessive or expensive shopping, etc). It's usually different for everyone. Without self control, it would be easy for me to eat out several days a week, and it would be easy for him to buy tons of expensive clothes. Solution: Set a reasonable budget for each category where we can still do those things, just on a budget that enforces a limit. So even on a bad year, I'm confident we'll still be able to afford road trips for hiking and camping trips. If we can afford one modest vacation a year that requires a flight, then we'll take it. If we can afford more, even better. Fyi: We both appreciate SAHMs. His mom was one and my sister became one after working the first several years of their marriage. My parents have always both worked. I'd say my mom overworked to afford more expensive things. So we have first hand knowledge of what all sides look like. We're taking lessons learned from the good and the bad and creating the future we want. But we also recognize that income and life circumstances do change and often unexpectedly. You have to truly be in it for richer, for poorer. And keep communicating and respecting each other through the changes. Being a SAHM isn't my dream, but if we come to a point where that's just what makes the most sense at the time, then I am fully capable and ready to give it my best.

Going through this right now caught my husband cheating four days before my birthday and didn’t tell him. I moved out the day after my birthday and told him that after the six month separation that our state requires if he didn’t get help and change, we were getting a divorce. He claims that he wants to save our marriage but he has still not told me the truth about everything he was doing and everything that he did I found out on my own and that for some reason is really bothering me whether we are together or not I just want to get past this and for it to be over I just turned 42, and I can’t believe I’m having to start over again, but I refuse to waste any more days of my life not truly living purposefully, and if it takes leaving the situation behind, I am more than willing to do that I just wish he gave me the respect of closure, but if he could cheat on me, he didn’t respect me anyway.

Its hard to be in a relationship with an over the road trucker. My dad was one and his being gone was so trying. We only saw him 3 times a week and when he was home he was beat to crap tired. We asked him to get a local job and he refused because he wanted to make more money, but my dad was an independent, so we never really had much money because he would pour his proceeds back into the truck. Too bad this woman didn't see that this wasn't the life for her earlier. Because I know I will NEVER be with one.

I found this out the hard way I feel bad for this guy I know the pain he’s going through.
