It truly is amazing all the different music things the Bee Gees have done - that they could go from singing about very adult topics to singing songs for a cute children's series! And, that's not even mentioning all the different genres of music they've done! Not only did they do them, they were absolutely amazing at every single one of them, even if it didn’t suit them very well, which was rarely ever the case - in my opinion, at least! I look forward to the rest of this weekend's marathon!

There is a cute video ( the cartoon, that goes with the song. ) they are cute rabbits that have a cricket team. oh, ok, didn’t know about the second one. David English played their mom and manager in This is where I came in. That video technicolor dreams was filmed at David’s house in England. Actually, David English is a famous British Shakespeare actor. He had been great friends with Barry especially, but all the brothers. He is a hoot, have seen him in interviews. He always said if The Bee Gees didn’t go into music they would have been great in comedy. The Bee Gees also did another cartoon book, again for charity …this was about the brothers. These days used copies run close to $300.00! Wish I had one!

'Bunbury Afternoon' was written by the three brothers and David English, don't know if the first song too or just the brothers, anyway David appears in 'Technicolor Dreams' as you said, not playing the instrument, but smoking something and fooling around, he also appears in the making of 'This is where I came in', the one playing their Mom LOL Great reaction Chad, thanks a lot!!

David English, great friend to the brothers, was a cricket player in his younger years, and for a time President of RSO records. I think they all met in the early 70s. It seems to me they had their senses of humor in common. I love the Caribbean rhythms in "We're the Bunberrys." Gives me the same feel as "Shine Shine." What a sweet story, and sound...done for charity.

In 1988, The Bee Gees, Elton John, Eric Clapton and George Harrison teamed up as a group called The Bunburys and recorded a song called Fight (No Matter How Long) for the 1988 Summer Olympics album. The song reached #8 on the Billboard Rock Tracks chart. The song rocks, needless to say!

Besides already mentioned stories and projects... Barry and David came up with the storyline for HAWKS. He was also with Barry in the 70’s at the height of their fame when they entered Barry in a Barry Gibb Lookalike contest that Barry didn’t win. If you’re a reader, David English wrote a book about his life adventures titled Mad Dogs & The Englishmen. He said that he stumbled into his career, so was amazed by the Gibbs and Clapton who had a dream and worked for it passionately from early ages and made it happen. Another thing that stood out was that he had heard Barry praise two artists for their musical talent and professionalism - Streisand and Elton John. When they asked, Elton John immediately agreed to record a song for the Bunbury project. He came into the studio prepared, and recorded in only one or two takes. ...and Barry sang Too Much Heaven at his wedding.

Just noticed Ronnie Barker (A hilarious comedian of the 2 Ronnies) on the left front and John Cleese (Basil Fawlty from Monty Python and Fawlty Towers and A fish called Wanda) the right front @7:51. While they weren't comedians themselves, the Gibbs hung out with and were accepted by a lot of them. Robin Williams and Robin did a skit on an airplane once and the passengers loved it! The premise of the cartoons was to promote cricket and good sportsmanship. With David English's participation here this would be a good time to react to "Songwriter's Workshop" with him and the Gibbs. (subtle hint) Robin also sang "Trash" on the Sesame Street Fever LP and took his kids to see big bird.

David English is wonderful and a decades long friend of all the brothers but especially Barry. David is a hoot. Barry’s personal manager Dick Ashby confirmed a rumored story was true: Many years ago a small café in Miami was running a Barry look-alike contest. David was in town and heard about it and took Barry to the cafe. They walked up to the guy in charge but did not introduce themselves. David looked at the man and motioned toward Barry,”well, what do you think?” The man said, “Nope. Not even close.” 😂 Afterward David sent the man a note with a photo telling him that it was really Barry. 😂 David’s sense of humor fit right in with the Gibbs.

Their friend David English wrote a children's book about cricket playing animals and it was made into a cartoon series. Bee Gees did the music for it and helped promote it. There was also an all star album, which was the last slide in the second song. Some of the cartoons are on KZbin. They are cute cartoons. Robin did a cute interview on Good Morning Britain 1986 you can find on KZbin. Another great reason to watch that interview is Robin's hair! David English was an President of RSO records.
