I believe this was no 1 in both the UK and the US, it came out during the time of disco. love the Bee Gees. fun fact - saw on a documentary regarding this song that one time they were travelling on a bridge and heard the sound that it made, so they incorporated that sound into this song, its that background sound that starts in the beginning and throughout the song

Good choice. You need to check out their younger brother Andy Gibb, who also was very successful. His music was mainly written, produced and had all his brothers doing back up many times. I regret not taking the Bee Gees serious, but as I got older, I realized that they are just LEGENDS!

Appreciate anyone who admits they didn't take them seriously back in the day! Btw, Robin & Mo participated in writing just 3 of Andy's songs & only sang backup on DESIRE. Yes-- Barry was so very hands-on when it came to little brother Andy.@@kthor I adore Barry to the moon and back, and no one admires him more, BUT he took on the role of stage "father" to Andy's young apprentice. I think a bit too zealous-- out of love--and maybe because Robin and Mo had each other. Barry loved that Andy was his late twin? Barry had such a huge heart.

Roller Skating... i was lucky enough that when i was a little kid, my neighbors owned the Skating Rink in town (same era as this song), so i got to skate all the time. Those were great days. Not a care in the world.

When Saturday Night Fever came out they were branded as a disco group. They actually only did a few disco songs, somewher under 10, I think is was 4 or 5 but don't really know

What a cool reaction. But man, now that you have established yourself as a skater, you really have to check out Cameo doing roller skates and I believe 1980s when it came out. And it and two or three other Bangerz off of that album got played at lots of underground mostly black parties in high school. But that roller skates one is completely about roller skates and I think it would be fascinating for you to get a glimpse into that scene as of 1980.
