Bee Gees One Reaction 1. I feel like this is stylistically the transition into the 90s. I have familiarity with the style of the music. Def Bee Gees style. 2. The fact that they can transcend different decades and style of music is absolutely mad skills. I think the fact that they are still relevant is just mad awesoneness.

@@jaybrielakoi7747 In the late 70's/early 80's mostly the media got tired of disco and decided to have a backlash. Records were burned in a stunt and DJs had disco free days were they refused to play it. The Bee Gees being the top band (though not an exclusively disco band) took the brunt of it. They basically had to write for other artists for a while because no one would play their music. Even after the backlash the stigma remained in the US. Their 80's and 90's music was snubbed in the US while charting highly in the UK and Europe. I'm so glad to see the Bee Gees finally getting love again here. It's too bad Robin and Maurice are not around to see it.

These three Musical Geniuses took a break after their Mega Success with the album "Saturday Night Fever", and wrote several number one hits for other artists - that's why "ONE" became such a big hit for the brothers in 1989... The BeeGees (in spite of being ridiculed by radio stations in the U.S., after their "disco album" ...) had the ability to adapt to each decade - bringing us Pure Magic as a trio for close to 50 years... 💖💖💖 They were never a "Disco" Group - ignorant people gave them that label. If anything, these three humble brothers were all about Popular Music - no matter the year showing on the calendar... Their music will undoubtedly be "rediscovered" by generations to come - for infinity... You'll also recognize the fact that these three brothers were Believers, as the words "...every breath we take is planned..." are present in the lyrics of "ONE"... They became true Legends during their own lifetime - and we're lucky to still have Sir Barry Gibb (the oldest brother...) with us. Check out his album "Greenfield's" - You won't be disappointed...💕

I might have this a little wrong but I think it’s right. In California at a motel they went to the balcony while people were outside burning all their disc music. Yelling disco sucks. Bee Gees have been consistently good, starting well before and after the disco period. They simply adapted their style to the music if the time. The lyric part of song writing never changed but the music did. They are incredible sing writers, singers, musicians, and performers.

and it's not easy to adapt your music. I think it'd be super duper hard.
@sherrykamke41563 жыл бұрын
@@jaybrielakoi7747 I didn’t mean to suggest adapting music is simple. I think the Bee Gees are experts at songwriting. They also had an incredible ability to incorporate compositional elements from the era they were writing in. I hear hints of disco beat before the disco era in their work. Then some of that dropped away or diminished when disco music diminished. I think they could write songs to any music but I think many themes are consistent to their musical composition (use of strings, horns, etc)

This song was all over Top 40 and A/C radio (#1 on the A/C charts!) when it came out in '89 and they finally made it back on American radio. Even the follow up single "Bodyguard" was a Top 10 A/C hit in America and received airplay on Top 40 radio (no official single was released). Hits were less frequent after this and it wasn't until 1997 that they reached the Top 40 again with "Alone".

I found this one in the 80s- and loved it then. I hated the way they were essentially blackballed/banned from regular radio play- in the early 80s. I like it now, but musically I think it attempts to blend in too much with regular "pop-synth" 80s stuff from other artists. Where are the TRUMPETS??
@leroyrs2 жыл бұрын
Late 80s and early 90s sound pretty the same, 'cause most of the 90s stuff were made with typical 80s synths and drum machines. People are pretty silly when thinking that the end of a decade means that music will change immediately. Same for early 80s that was still influenced by 70s music. Personally I like 80s Bee Gees sound more than their earlier stuff but probably older people prefer their 60s and 70s songs. It's all about when people were in their youth.
