You were such a blessing to that lady, that you didn't just leave and tell her to call someone to come and fix her problem when they were wasps not honey bee, you both stayed, got stung and helped her - it shows your true kindness and character

It was really nice of you guys to help out the Lady who was having a Bee problem (wasp), & Uriah went with you to be a part of solving her problem. Speaking of someone who is older than this lady worse, not by much, just in the last eight months I have been in the hospital so much and my family does not live close to me, so sometimes I have to count others to help me ❣️❣️ I’m glad you stuck with solving the problem and getting all of those nest out from under her house. You taught your son something important about helping someone else out. He will remember this forever!! Children learn by example and Dad. You are a really good example to your children, as his Mommy❣️❣️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Those are most certainly a type of yellowjacket. I would probably say German. Not all yellow jackets are burrowers. some actively seek out Cavities (like European hornets do), and some are ariel nest building yellow jackets (bald faced hornet is actually a yellow jacket, and they are a cousin to the Aerial nest building yellow jacket). I'm happy you were able to do something about the yellow jackets. Especially since it's getting to be colder, this is the time of year when wasps tend to become more aggressive. If you haven't looked into his content at all, I would maybe check out Hornet King. He specializes in removing wasps of various kinds, and often goes over species differentiation when dealing with their nests.

Long time watcher, first time commentor. I'm a big fan who has enjoyed watching for many years and wanted to share some feedback. Something I think your videos/channel would benefit from is building more anticipation for future videos. A lot of times when a video comes out you don't know what you're going to get - could be a hatching project, could be a bee adventure, could be the aviary build, update on the cows or could be something else. Which is normally fine, but as your different projects continue to expand it might be nice to try and build-in a bit of an arc in your videos, and with it some anticipation for an upcoming video so as the audience we can feel like we're along for the journey. You do this sometimes with hatching projects - providing a sneak peak or mentioning that we'll see the results in a later video. Might take a bit more planning, but I think this could help grow your following so people have something specific to look forward to - versus just another video (which is still nice) and might keep them around as they feel more invested in the narrative. Honestly - I would have been SO EXCITED in the build up for the pond build videos, but they kinda felt like they came out of nowhere! Anyways - only sharing incase it's helpful. love the vids, hope you keep makin em'!

I would rather take 100 honeybee stings than one wasp thing! I would highly suggest getting internal frame feeders. Open feeding only allows the strong hives to get stronger because they have larger workforces. Weak will continue to stay weak without reduced entrance, and a rapid round feeder on top. You may want to look into double screen boards as a possibility for the weaker hives to piggyback on top of stronger hives to make it through winter.!

As a beekeeper, I don't enjoy having wasps (hornet's) of any genus near or around my hives, there is always plenty of dead bee's around the hives, but some of these SOBs leave them and either make their way into a hive or they pick off bee's coming or going. People who say a bee stung me don't know or realise a bee stings you once and 7/10 dies soon after the rest can die while they sting you, a wasp, can sting you over and over and over and if your near the nest you will get stung by more. Bee's can also attack if you are close to the nest or hive but its rare. 80% of people think if they are stung it's a bee.
@insectwildlife37
@insectwildlife37 Жыл бұрын
I heard that paper wasps polistes genus don’t attack honey bee colonies at all but they are good at displacing Yellowjackets since they nest in the same places there also really docile too
@stockerk1
@stockerk1 Жыл бұрын
@@insectwildlife37 Paper wasps will often attack honeybees that are returning to their hive with pollen and nectar, using their stingers to paralyze them. Then they carry the paralyzed bees back to their own nests, where they'll be used as food and fed to the hungry wasp larvae.

People these wasps and wild bees are our food production machinery. We will need them. We still have no scientific and industrial scale tech to pollinate our farms and orchards or even the wild. If you are in mid and eastern United States ask a farmer who grows Paw-Paw fruits how dependent they are on one particular wasp for a good crop yeild. For a suggestion, for similar situation where the nest is not visible, a cheap heat sensor will be a great tool to have. Bees and Wasps have to keep their hives at a certain temperature for the future generations to be born.

Well, my family doesn't like honey because we have the recessive honey gene. Honey activates every receptor on the tongue at once. I analyzed it but my older sister just said it tastes blachhhh. So my characterization was sweet, sour, salty, bitter and strange all at once. It is unpleasant. My other 2 siblings agree. Yep, all 4 of us got the recessive gene. I was so nice you helped the lady with the inappropriate placement of the yellow jacket wasps. I don't think there are a shortage of these insects but they too pollinate. Wish I knew their appropriate habitat and it was away from humans. No one likes to be stung. At least they were not white faced hornets (these are truly mean insects). Your children have a good biological background, having lived the farming life. This prepares them to learn so much more. TY for including us your viewers.
