As a lineboy in the 70's at Rapid City SD we couldn't leave work until the mail plane left. There were many nights when I watched Bobbie Younkin take off and always enjoyed the sound and the exhaust on the airplanes that didn't have the short stacks. The first time I saw Matt take off at night that blue exhaust brought back a lot of memories.

Thank you for the walk around! She's a beauty! I just got to see "Miss Maine" fly past our RC model airfield this past week.. I was flying a 7' wingspan Carbon Cub giant scale model @ the time when I heard the dual radials rumbling.. Aviate, navigate to head to safe area, search to locate & track full scale aircraft..aviate in safe manner as Beech-18 passes from behind @1000'AGL one mile south, off my right shoulder..saying,"OH,YA!😎👍🏻" MADE MY YEAR!!!

Pitts? Extra? Cap? Let‘s take a big old radial engine transport plane, convert it into a christmas tree and do aerobatics with it! here goes nothing! What an abstruse idea… I love it :D

I'm not a fan of sponsor reels, but it was a pleasure to hear this man talk with such pride about the companies that keep him in the air, and a pleasure to hear him share his expertise which he clearly has plenty of!

I got to him perform at an airshow at Seymour Johnson AFB several years ago. It was the highlight of the whole show for me. I had no idea you could do such maneuvers in a plane like that.

They used this as a crop duster!! 😂. That’s a hell of a duster man…. Amazing plane and the fact it will do aerobatics is also amazing. With all the sponsors, this thing is like the nascar of the sky 🤣.

I worked for a fellow who had several twin beeches to haul mail. It had a small red bulb in the nose next to the landing nights and I could never find out what that red bulb was for.

I'm sure Younkin is a first rate airshow pilot, but this was 1hour 16 minutes of an info-comercial. I'm also sure his sponsors are proud to be associate with a great pilot, but I came for a Beech 18 walkaround, like what was done on the B-52.

I see your point, but it’s also easy to just fast forward past the sponsor part.

@@jim874 I do understand your point, but my videos tend to be educational and in the air show industry, it does take sponsors to keep these birds flying. So this is once again a behind the scenes into the Airshow world.

Most of the Walkaround videos focus just on the airplane. But this video also shows how sponsors are important and what sponsors provide which services that help keep this airplane flying.

Mentioning people not noticing the registration number because it's in amongst the sponsors, I can personally see that happening. I am curious, why do you not have it up in the black area in orange or white, which would make it more obvious? Is it a legal requirement to be where it is?
@ErikJohnston2 жыл бұрын
It matters most the size of the font of the tail #. Aircraft built before a certain year are allied to have two inch size font for their tail number. Matt probably just put it with the sponsors to keep everything in one location on that part of the tail.
@sethjohnson74932 жыл бұрын
Was this filmed before the bad landing last spring? Unless I missed it, there was not one mention of it.
@ErikJohnston2 жыл бұрын
We filmed this about five days ago. There was no reason to mention that landing in the video as these Walkaround videos are about the nuts and bolts of the plane. There are other people on KZbin that report about me negative aspects of things, not me

Look at the cost of maintaining and operating a beach 18 the cost of a dedicated A&P the team who he works with and u can see why he likes them cause they make this airplane being airworthy possible
