In-flight engine shutdown (simulated failure) and air start in a Beechcraft Duchess equipped with an unfeathering accumulator, a common device on multi-engine training planes, which stores oil under pressure. After an engine is shut down and the prop is feathered, the oil stored in the accumulator can be forced back into the propeller hub, removing the propeller from the feathered position and forcing the propeller to windmill. This allows air starts to be accomplished without using the starter motor.
