I only recently discovered your music after playing jazz for 50 years. Make more albums please and gig in Virginia when you have a chance. Hearing you live would be a treat. Good luck with everything.

Yeah Beechlers are fantastic, when they're good. I got a Beechler Diamond Inlay S6S (measures a 7 though) a few years ago, one of the older ones and it's absolutely fantastic. Tone wise it's like a Meyer meets a Dukoff. But not super reed friendly, but rigotti is good. Right now I'm using tenor reeds on it 😅

Very cool sound! What reeds and reed strengths have played well for you on the Belite?

Hi there, does anyone know if the Beechler Bellite alto are compatible with the optimum ligatures of Vandoren size soprano?

I dont think so, im using ishimori ligature for ARB and Rovner dark for arb and i love it, you should try, i think beechler has his own size

Hey brotha, just wanted to say you sound amazing and thanks again for recommending this piece to me few years ago, it's the best piece I've played on tenor that works with my naturally dark sound. Do you know if there are any manufacturers that make custom synthetic reeds that work with the bellites? Or is there nothing that can be done to adjust the synthetics to get them to play better on the bellite? Hopefully there's a workaround to ordering an entirely new bellite with a custom facing 😅
@randalclarkmusic43334 ай бұрын
The Beechlers have not worked well for me with Legere. I did order a custom facing from them specifically for legere that works really well though. That one plays great. I did have better luck with a Silverstein Amblipoly jazz cut, but the sound was a little more dull. So end of story is, Beechler doesn’t seem to be super friendly with synthetics unless you order a special facing specifically for legere.

Greetings Randall, when you play the bellite is heard very loud? Or is it a matter of mastering the mouthpiece over time? I want to buy one but I was trying a friend's but to make it sound I had to play very loud
@randalclarkmusic4333Ай бұрын
@@jq_music you should be able to play very soft if the tip opening and reed strength are appropriate for you. I can play soft or loud as I desire.

What about the tenor saxophone pieces?

I played the Beechler tenor on my first record. Plays great. Not too bright. Right in the middle of the tone spectrum.

With my Bellite, the bite plate needs replaced due to deep teeth marks. Is that something that is swappable? Or maybe know a material I could use to fill the indentation? I’m now using a bite plate on top, but I can still feel the indentation. Also, what are your thoughts about the “vintage” modern Bellites (90’s and before) vs the current line-up of Bellites? It seems people don’t feel the new ones are quite the same.
@randalclarkmusic43334 ай бұрын
I’m sure it can be replaced or modified. I’m not sure how or what you would use to do that. I have both old and new belites. I haven’t found them to be too much different.

@@randalclarkmusic4333 You’re awesome! Thank you! I don’t see too many videos that focus on the Bellite these days, so it’s cool to see it get some love! You sure make it sing! 🙏

@@randalclarkmusic4333 I just ran into an interesting piece. A Morgan Excalibur 6E (medium chamber). It is a super early serial number, so I gave them a call and it is almost certainly made by Ralph. I got it for under $300, so I picked it up to try it out. Are you familiar with these pieces? If so, how would you compare to the Beechler based on your understanding? Seems like a beautiful MP!
@randalclarkmusic43334 ай бұрын
@timothygothra I have never played a Morgan on saxophone. Although I do like my Morgan clarinet mouthpiece.

I have a question that bothers me.Some people say that the old beechlers are easier to blow than modern ones because the metal is softer and vibrates better. Is that true?
@randalclarkmusic43337 ай бұрын
I have old and new. I have not found any difference due to the material. But they are not all made equal. some older ones are faced better than others. The new ones are more consistent. None of them are outrageously free blowing, but they are free enough. They all have a small amount of resistance. But that gives them their characteristic sound. For someone so wants a mouthpiece that is extremely free and open, they probably won’t like the beechler.

I have a custom 7 belite. The low range can be tough if the reed is too hard. This mouthpiece likes a softer reed. I thin down my 2.5 reeds to about 2.25.
