My grandma made round steak to perfection. I have always used the same recipe, there is no other way to make round steak tender. Slice steak in to 4 or 5 inch pieces, salt pepper, dredge in some flour, hear some crisco and butter in the skillet, Lay in the round steak, sprinkle all over with worcestshire, fry both sides then add water and simmer covered for an hour and a half or two, melts in your mouth. Perfect with mashed pototoes, gravy already made with the meat. Garlic cheese bread and sweet corrn. Amen

I season with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder with a tiny bit of olive oil in a pan on high and just do like a minute on each side to brown then I take off the heat slice paper thin and put back on until browned. Takes like 5 minutes. I’m doing mine for weight loss purposes though it taste pretty good but tough that’s where slicing so thin helps out for me at least.

For The Love Of Seattle that’s correct just don’t even try. Trying to make an eye of round into a steak is like trying to drive a nail with a screwdriver. It just doesn’t work and will make you look like an idiot.

Guga foods does a series on how to tenderize them. Use pineapple, kiwi, and other things to tenderize.

I suspect that the reason it’s tender is b/c it was boiled in the broth/wine for a hour!

Hi , what can I use instead of red wine? alcohol allergies?!
@christschild25 жыл бұрын
Red wine vinegar, grape juice, pomegranate juice, or cranberry juice. If using the juice, you can add a little bit of vinegar for acidity which is used to help break down the tough muscle in this particular cut of meat. Also I would add a little water to the red wine vinegar. I hope this helps
@voosum5 жыл бұрын
alcohol allergy lol its ok to say you can have because its haram.
@eartraffic Жыл бұрын
add the wine first to allow the alcohol to burn off, which will eliminate it. You can also use cooking wine. Use the same procedure. Add it first. It had virtually no alcohol in it to begin with. This way, you still gain the flavor of the wine in the mixture.

Friendly critical comments: What no written recipe? You didn't mention how thick the eye of round was cut. You never showed us how tender the final steak was. I am a first time viewer so if you want my continued support consider things like I have o. You are good and I would like to see more. Thanks, Mike in South Carolina

So if this simmers for 45 minutes, doesn't that make it super tough?
@brianbazala62115 жыл бұрын
No, the liquid, time and heat breaks down the muscle fibers because this is a tougher cut of beef. But prepared properly, it is a very tasty cut of beef. This is not the kind of steak you want to grill -- not enough fat.

@@jackass5066 pho is best when you use savory cuts with fat. Brisket, chuck, flank. No component of a quality dish should be bland or boring. Now I would consider dry aging and sous vide with umami then frying in beef fat

Best cooked as a roast, then thinly sliced and served with horseradish, it's not fancy but is the best method I've seen in my opinion.

I can’t for the life of me understand why she used so many different little bowls to mix salt and pepper and why the hell she didn’t put some good seasoning on those steaks?! I mean why are people so afraid of actual seasoning?! Garlic and other seasoning as amazing in steaks!
@Sarah-tq2jx4 жыл бұрын
It’s called mise en place. She’s using so many little bowls because this is a cooking production, not a video from someone’s home kitchen.

I put oregano, minced garlic, onion powder, salt and pepper on an eye of round steak and put it in a ziplock bag and left it in the fridge for 24 hours. One hour before putting it on the grill, I put it in the freezer. It was fine. It's not a ribeye but it was a good supper.
