Confused with soy sauce and dark soy sauce. Can you please just give me the brand so I do not have to look for it . I have kikoman at home and I thought traditional kikoman is dark. If it’s dark then what do you use for soy sauce only
@CiCiLi5 ай бұрын
Light soy sauce is used for the taste. While dark soy sauce is mainly used for the vibrant dark color. Kikkoman makes light soy sauce. It's a good brand and I'm using it as well. For the dark soy sauce, I usually go for Lee Kum Kee Premium Dark Soy Sauce. I hope this helps!

Thank you for your reply. What brand then is just plain soy sauce I thought it was only dark and light but then there is also just plain soy sauce. Would you mind telling me what brand you use for just plain soy sauce. (No distinction whatsoever) When I googled traditional Kilian brewed the answer was classified as dark soy sauce but in Chinese cooking it’s considered light . So there are actually 3 soy sauce only Light soy sauce Dark soy sauce

@cherryosborn1249 Hello. Just last week, I started cooking Chow Mein & now I'm going to try cooking Lo Mein. I went to the Asian store yesterday and yes they do have Regular Soy Sauce. Dark Soy Sauce and Light Soy Sauce. I haven't tried the light soy sauce yet, but the dark one has a slightly sweet taste.

@cherryosborn1249 I'm just a viewer, so it's not my recipe. I am currently trying out some of these wonderful amazing recipes too. I looked it up abd my grocery store sells dried Lo Mein noodles, so maybe you can check out your grocery store too.

One more thing...my other favorite lo mein is shrimp. (beef, chicken & shrimp)
