I love the way her arrangements "breathe" most pianists fill in too much, she's not afraid to leave room.
@babzter6 жыл бұрын
You're right. She didn't have to over arrange it, just let us fill up the "gaps" with our emotions. That's what makes her sound so amazingly fresh.

When I listen to Beegie I wish I had someone to dance with. I mean dance, you know, holding each other closely and drifting around the dance floor together. This is a perfect dance tune, Beegie. S'awright, S'awright!

+Randall Mullen I agree with you. Her phrases and expressions are stuning. She is high quality jazz pianist, in my opinion. I am jazz and classical pianist, too and I know how hard is to be such a good artist. So I admire Beegie Adair because of her style and "smart" tone :)

Beegie has an infallible ear for harmony and a glorious style that never fails to intrigue. Lots of Talent is great, gut it takes about 10,000 hours of practice to achieve the level of class and expertise that she displays. You know she worked very seriously, with a lot of heart and love for the music to reach us all with her classy and witty interpretations. Thanks and appreciation from all of us, Beegie.
@MrCrowebobby6 жыл бұрын
Not claiming to be an expert, but I don't believe her "touch" can be "achieved" with any amount of training and practice. I knew a pianist years ago who had played with all the great stride pianists from 1915 on. With her it was her left hand "attack" that was unique and inimitable. Her first teacher had offered to pay for her studies in Germany to work on the Beethoven repertoire because of it, but she only wanted to play ragtime (which became stride).

The bassist is great too: playing only downbeats for the first 16 bars, then walking at the bridge to drive it along. Anyone familiar with Shearing's version? Beegie does Shearing in her swing improv chorus. Beegie's arrangements are so full and rich!

@Miguel Fernandes totally agree I first heard the words in the Bette Midler movie "For the Boys". I thought that the words were just lovely and such a beautiful song. Another song I liked from that movie was called "PS, I Love You". If you've never heard that one, you should look up that scene from the movie. Again.... just lovely.
