I have been messing with bees since 1972 . I think you are doing way better than the average person teaching about what to look for and know . And what to do when . What to do when was the hardest thing for me to learn out of the books and DVD's . We didn't have KZbin to use. Thanks . And keep up the good work . We all really need you .

I love that! "I've been messing with bees since 1972". That's a good way to describe it :) It is so hard to learn from books about beekeeping.

Thank you! The kids got to jump in a pile of leaves taller than they are and they saw their first snow yesterday, so it's been fun. I told my son to look out the window and (I kid you not) he said "what's that?" to the snow. LOL

Super great photography, still pictures of honeybees on frames of beeswax with nectar, pollen, honey, and brood. Nice details to the world and inner workings of a honeybee colony also. So important for the beginner to familiarize themselves before and during the getting into this wonderful hobby beekeeping and the purchasing of their first hive. The reference to other beginning aspects with the videos you have previously made and recorded will make it easier for the newbie as they start this journey into such a wonderful hobby. And like you said, so important to find a mentor, attend or watch a beginning beekeeping class, and find a local bee club to join if you can as I once did. To talk with others/share ideas/ask questions from people young/old like yourself, and hopefully finding a mentor of maybe 5 years with at least 10 colonies that they can show you things/stuff within a hive or you could volunteer to possibly help them with his/her own hives is a plus for getting first hand experience. Bee Supply stores usually have free catalogs to look at equipment or tools to wear and use with this endeavor. A subscription to magazines like Bee Culture or American Bee Journal have good articles, and libraries in bee clubs that let up check out books to read like the one I joined 30 years ago are also helpful. So long comment but enjoyed this Beekeeping 101 video and I bet my grown up married daughter would enjoy the Honeybee necklace and Earrings for Christmas. It would make a nice gift from me as a father to give her this upcoming holiday season. Thanks :) 🐝

There are small hive beetles in PA. I would guess that Eastern PA is going to have a much higher pop. than West. It's considerably colder there. I've been told that hive beetles can be a problem for beekeepers in the Philly area. When I kept bees in Philly 12 years ago, I never saw them.
