I do the same thing with a deep box over a metal queen excluder. I especially like this method when I do cutouts or swarm catches and can't locate the queen. I need to equalize my hives too. Thanks Devon!!

If a queen is shaken into the box what are the chances she would take flight?

Most times she will try to make her way into the box at the edges. So i would say majority of the time she will be in that box. If she does takes flight most likely she will fly back to the original hive
