What a very nice video my dear lady, great to see a lot more women beekeepers in the world. I live in Melbourne Australia and I run Russian Caucasian bees, they’re the gentlest bees out of Carniolan and Italians, very rarely they sting are not big on swarming as the queen does not build large brood patches like the other two APIS Mellifera.thanks Dasha, very nice video, very well presented

When I was at school, from the age of 11-14 a beekeeping lesson was part of my biology class. My school had its own bees (there were 2-3 hives) and we used to kit-up in protective clothing (as in the video) and study and care for the bees. Nowadays, unfortunately, I don't think any schools in England keep bees (even then it was very rare) as it's considered too dangerous by those who create "health and safety" policies.... If a Queen bee left the hive and landed on a child, true, it would not be a good situation - as all the other bees would follow too... but I think children miss-out a lot these days by not experiencing nature for themselves - it's much better to see it for real than on TV or on KZbin (unless, of course it's one of Dasha's videos)))
@gretchankababka97824 жыл бұрын
@RussianwithDasha4 жыл бұрын
wow that's amazing! I think it's very important to show children that they can take care of different species that are crucial to our world's balance. btw I saw your email, I just didn't have time to write a proper reply, will do that soon
@grantchallinor52634 жыл бұрын
@@RussianwithDasha I was lucky Dasha, I think very few schools offered bee-keeping as part of a science lesson, and fewer schools still actually had their own bees - I doubt any schools in England do this now. Also both schools I went to covered a vast area of land - with fields for athletics and other sports, and woodland too. Nowadays, with such a focus on money, many school fields in England have been sold to developers..... Sorry, it was quite a long email I sent you Dasha.

Very nice! What is the object under the swarm. Is it there to attract them? Your work is important. From a fellow beekeeper in Pennsylvania.
@RussianwithDasha3 жыл бұрын
thank you! We places a box under the swarm to catch the bees. There's also some sweet stuff (not sure what it's called) on a piece of cloth on some trees to attract a swarm with no hive.

@RussianwithDasha4 жыл бұрын

That cat was close to the hives🤯 I used to have some hives a decade ago, but when we were collecting honey they used to attack any animal or person in a range of 100m each side, that is why I stopped it
@RussianwithDasha4 жыл бұрын
I think it's all about a beekeeper's experience. I recorded everything by myself, but the bees were quite relaxed even when we collected honey. they stung the beekeeper, because he had no gloves. and yes, my cat Syomik was very brave to sit there. he was just sitting and meowing, although we didn't collect honey at that moment, the bees were peaceful
@valterzc81874 жыл бұрын
@@RussianwithDasha i think they aren't the same bees, the bees here are are a cross between European and African bees, the last one known for its agressivity so I think that is why they behave differently in russia
