I really enjoyed your description of the stages of brood and how to forecast a colony's strength. Learned some new things here. Thanks for all you do!!!!

I grew up watching my dad tend his bees and harvest honey... I have always loved and respected bees and covid has helped guide my passion into beekeeping (something that I subconsciously wanted since I was in my ealry 20s). This year, I have my own bees and have been accompanying my dad in tending his... I send him your videos and he is now subscribed to your channel. Thank you for the content you put out.. thank you for being a conscious beekeeper and for allowing so much creativity. Glad you're here!

Could you revisit your observations about the medium frames? Specifically, I'm interested in how/why the comb was drawn as drone comb. Since it was drone comb, wouldn't you want to count the brood separately as drones? I understand this would complicate things a bit in what your goal was here, but I was interested in how/whether you'd account for the drone brood. THANKS for a very clear explanation - doing the math as you did really clarified the matter of queen productivity for me!

Hi David, I am a novice bee keeper. I took a 6 day course last winter (2.5hrs per day). Excellent, taught by two Master Bee Keepers. Currrently (Jan 11, 2023). Each of my three hives have two deeps and on honey super on. How do I know or what determines when I should take that top honey super off? In October of 2022 the honey supers where full, also most of the top brood box was full of honey and stores. Thx, Dave from SE Ohio.
