This hive concept is good in all but once the bees glue it together like mine you may have to disassemble it to do a hive inspection

My suggestion is to put a stake in front and back of brood box flush with the Nixon the roof side. Add the clamps too the left side of the brood box. This would anchor it to the ground and prevent possible tilting over when to suppers are full or a strong wind from a storm. The stacking may make it top heavy on the one side. Just my thoughts and observations.

I'm impressed that it doesn't fall over when frames are pulled out from the bottom!😮

Slovenia has had a back-opening brood box since forever

Great for someone like me that has back problems.

Good idea, but I think the improved design should allow you to pull all the frames like a drawer and then pull it back you just need to reinforce the box to make surenit can still hold the weight duering the inspection. The concept is actually not new fornexample you can look at AZ honey houses which are native to Slovenia.

wow, i wonder how long before someone converts one to hold flow frames in the supers lol. love it.

As a beek who has a bad back, getting worse, I can appreciate the idea. However it only addresses ONE issue and that's brood box inspection. Lifting of the honey supers is actually MORE of an issue with this design in my opinion. I think there are a few tried and true ideas to eliminate excess lifting both of brood boxes AND honey supers. Layens and long Langs are two that immediately come to mind. It appears that this targets the hobbyist and/or side liner, not the full time beekeeper, so why try to fill a void where non exists? Maybe if I had been able to see it in action at the NHBE I'd have a different opinion. Cheers!

Definitely another toy for you to play with this season, would be interesting to know if you can buy the parts. What happens if you lose the handle part that comes out so you can get to the lugs of the frames, would other bees be able to get into the keeper hive to rob from the hive?

Would like to try this in South-Africa!

Fuck! 😆 I’m been trying to design a no lift hive. But the sliding of the frames from outside edge is pretty good. I wanna see how propolis will/wont interfere.
@etripp1114 ай бұрын
my thoughts exactly as far as the propolis goes. My bees will have it ALL glued together within a few days.

Yes, spot on, I have very sticky bees! Wont last a season like this.

Anyone up for a side wager if propolis effects the Keeper Hive function (ability to slide frames from under queen excluder) I will accept all bets. Make them big!

I saw something like this which was a double keepers hive with 2 inspection lids across from each other, both hives shared the supers .
That is one neat bit of equipment! One for the Christmas list I think. Good luck in the coming days.😊

As a new beekeeper my question is how many do you kill Every time? I'm afraid of going this fast because I'm afraid to squish them. What's the key to not squishing them?

I'd rather lift boxes.. 😂😂

All the weight is high and to one side, doesn't equal stable! Sorry I just think it looks over engineered, possibly eliminating one issue just to create other issues.
