The part where you said that make heat, it is also Resonance that molds the combs. It’s all about the vibration the bees make.

In the middle of the night I wondered how the hexagon shape is made (I am very curious and like to learn), and now this morning you answered that question and more. 😊 Amazing how bees do all of this! Why are the frames close together, and where would the bees construct up a hive if not in an human-made one? Thank you for this educational video!

Im still not sold on the cylinder to hexagon,i think bees draw hexagons from the bottom on out,or foundation may as well be circles, rather than embossed hexagons😊
@BeekeepingMadeSimple8 ай бұрын
Good point! There is only one way to know for sure - put a frame with no foundation into your hive and look at the comb when it is really tiny, just a few inches tall and wide. Look at the shape of the cells. I would think that if foundation was in the frame, the cells are built as hexagons from the start. But, if there's no foundation, they start out as cylinders.
@sonofthunder.8 ай бұрын
@@BeekeepingMadeSimple i think they start as trihedral 3 sided pyramid, like dadants smoker symbol,comb is drawn out,not stacked,...it would be really great to see festooning and the drawing out process in time laps,I did find some studies on the surface tension,cacoons,contributing to the final structure,its facinating for sure,how the cells stagger side to side in a zigzag
@spectrixx7 күн бұрын
Hexagons are formed naturally when circles are pushed together. You can think of the hexagon pattern as the equilibrium. The cells start off circular, and when the bees heat the cells through vibration, the hexagonal shapes form due to surface tensions of the walls. As long as the cells are a uniform size, perfect hexagons will be formed. You can see a similar phenomenon when bubbles join together in a bath. There is a really interesting paper published explaining the formation of honeycomb shape - Search for: Journal of the Royal Society Interface: Honey Bee Combs

why do the worker bees walk to the queen bee all the time?
@BeekeepingMadeSimple2 ай бұрын
Great question! Worker bees are constantly walking up to the queen and touching her with their antennae. They get her pheromones on them and then they walk around the hive and distribute her pheromone. The poor queen bee is usually bald and that's from being touched all day long by her daughters.

Hi miss one question can bees collect enough nectar and pollen from coconut trees so that they can be on a honey flow on that crop . Am from St. Lucia 🇱🇨 and there are a lot of coconut trees here.
@BeekeepingMadeSimple6 ай бұрын
I don't know how much nectar the coconut palm trees produce, but I do know that the bees LOVE them. Since the flowers are so high up it's hard to see if they're taking nectar or pollen, but I can hear the palms buzzing when I stand under them. My guess is that they must produce an okay amount of nectar because the bees I have by the ocean bring in a ton of honey when the Mesquite trees bloom. When that bloom is over, the palms are really all they have. The hives aren't bursting with honey like from the mesquite harvest, but they are stable for the rest of the year.
