Still have the S912 Beelink GT1 with 2GB/16GB. Have always wanted to do some emulation but so far, I am just far too busy. Appreciate you keeping me up to date on the new android TV boxed and Amlogic SoCs! Keep up the good work! I doubt I'll switch just for the better horsepower. ETA, I have a question: I want to build myself a NAS but I don't want it to be powered on all the time. Do you know any SCB which has 4x USB 3.0 (or better) or the GPIO 40pin header of the Raspberry Pi and (in both cases) has a Wake On Land option? Hi, I recommend you these games for these emulators Dreamcast: Shenmue 1/2, Metropolis Street Racer, Sega Rally 2, Jet Set Radio, Resident Evil Code Veronica PS1: Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Tekken 3, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Gran Turismo 1 or 2, Final Fantasy VIII. N64: Donkey Kong 64, GoldenEye 007, Banjo Tooie/Kazooie Saturn: Panzer Dragoon Saga, Sega Rally Championship, Pandemonium, Resident Evil 1, Tomb Raider 1, Nights into Dreams. I think that these games are perfect to see if the device works really well.

If you want it to keep it simple, go with an Nvidia Shield TV and install Retroarch. Easy to maintain, good performance, good price to performance. Otherwise, I think an AMD ITX X470 mainboard with a Ryzen 5 2400G, 16GB of RAM and an SSD with Linux (enough for emulation) or Windows (for modern gaming) is pretty great. Beyond that you get into actual PC territory, which can go as high and far as you like.

a HK1 box will run PS1, PSP, N64, Dreamcast, Sega Saturn. a S905x4 will run EmuElec . I'm running EmuElec on a H96 max x3 . These boxes need some makeshift ventilation and a USB fan underneath them to keep temps nice and low as well. I've seen a beelink GT king for 85 pound on Aliexpress which would be a nice upgrade to an s922x . The latest odroid N2+ would be the biggest upgrade at the moment with the overclocked chipset .

This may come down in price, but will this be the same case as smart phones, where price goes down, but eventually support and updates stop?

"Eventually" yes. Eventually everything stops. Beelink does not have a great track record of updating existing hardware. My GT1 stopped at Android 6 with Android 7 support being provided by custom firmware via the 3GB/32GB version being retrofitted (I think). If you want good hardware and software, Nvidia seems to be the only game in town I'm aware of. Are there any decent quality Android TV boxes made by "western support" companies? I don't know of any. All the reputable companies have the smart TV stuff built into the TV (and even then, support is okay to meh). For the price, I wouldn't buy it. I got my S912 GT1 for 60 bucks and it was among the cheapest 4k ready players at the time. UHD bluray cost 200+€, a graphicscard for 4k output via HDMI cost at least 250€ at the time. It's better now, though. But if you want support and hardware, Nvidia (with the "outdated" 2017 hardware) is the way to go in my opinion.

You can get the god of war games to run on this in a playable state with cheats. The cheats add much needed framerate caps that optimise it. For this box you will have to settle with 30fps gameplay, for higher end hardware you can keep it at a consistent 60, but thats with higher end pc hardware. Things like the nvidia shield wont do much better other than maybe squeezing out a slightly more upscaled resolution with 30fps. I'd add a forum link that breaks it down and provides the cheats, but youtube keeps deleting the comment when I do lol

Well most N64 games specially golden eye never really ran that well on it's original hardware and when stepping into multi player xD gane runs like ass on the N64
