This has to be still one of the best IOS synths to date. With the layers mode, it is like a 4 OSC synth! Great video by the way.

An excellent video which shows us some approaches for designing our own presets in addition to what the app can do. I appreciate the effort and time you put into making your videos as well as your humble attitude plus sense of humor. Another video of Zeeon also showed the standalone mode only and talked about how they felt the app was rushed. I pointed out to them in their comments section how the app was designed to be used primarily as an AU app inside an AU host app like AUM, Audiobus 3, Cubasis, Auria Pro, and BeatMaker 3. The video creator then went onto accuse me of not even owning Zeeon and that it didn't even work in most of the apps I'd listed. I only own 4 of the 5 apps mentioned and it worked well in all of those plus GarageBand. This experience was very unpleasant and makes me appreciate even more all of what you do for us and the respect you show to everyone.

Been using this app for a few months now and its just incredible, easy to use and quick to navigate, but the main reason I keep coming back to this one over my sizable collection of iOS synths is the sound. Its an incredibly versatile analog emulation, does all your classic gritty, squelchy monophonic basses and leads to the most serene and lush pads and strings you could ever ask for. The addition of a wavefolder in version 1.4 is a HUGE bonus, it sounds amazing and opens up so many new possibilities. If I had to recommend just one synthesizer app for iOS, I'm pretty sure it would be this one, it is that good.

Your review and the fact that there is a Black Friday sale on it has sold me on this. I wish it had a sine wave OSC, but oh well. I’ve done without sine wave before. Used your link, thanks for all your work.
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Eastman If you need a sinewave then use one of the layers to make one yourself. Here's how: . TUTORIAL: 1. After choosing a layer and making sure only one layer can be heard, turn down the volume for oscillator 2, the sub oscillator and noise/layer. We only want oscillator 1 to be heard. . 2. Make sure that you select the triangle waveform for oscillator 1. . 3. Make sure the filter is at LP (LowPass) and then turn down the cuttoff knob until you get a sinewave. Look at the oscilloscope while tweaking. You can literally see it happen. 😉👍🏼
@itme76857 жыл бұрын
Oh, Thanks for the tip. I think that will do the job the oscilloscope will really help. If I need another sine wave with a slow mild LFO to pitch I can just use layer 2. I’m about to open it for the first time. Thanks for the detailed reply!

Direct presence of developers, professional musicians and hobby musicians - including me. Then I discovered new KZbin. ( the channels) Live chat with you, sonicstate and many more. The first app from Bram Bros. (ripple maker)🥇 Then a wild journey full of melody (iSymphonic), weird sounds (self-a-fuzz), again classic (fingerfiddle) and then Shoom👁. From Patterning, Borderlands, Krft, Beathawk, ruismaker fm to harmony voice, and now Zeeon. Yes. Please, no new apps more for a couple of weeks 😂 Midiflow, audio bus 3 and so on not to mention we here, right? And also the iconnectivity audio 4+ ( that is great) 😳 Greetings, Frank from Germany. I use live loops in garage band and play Zeeon and other synths as audio units in the loop board. I cannot get Zeeon to function correctly though. The malfunction is quite simple. When I close a loop, it continues to play, or send a signal. I have a short example showing how it malfunctions vs Poison and Model 15 in the same loop board which I can share if you are interested. Hey Jacob! Can I use this app in cubasis as an AU? Thanks again for a great video!
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
+Τζών Γαλαίος Yes, as I stated in the video, Zeeon was designed to work as an Audio Unit Extension. So it will work with apps like AUM, AB3, Modstep and Cubasis! 🖖🏼👽 The sand alone mode is limited and the synth doesn't support Inter App Audio. I only used it in stand alone mode in the video because in that mode it also has a step sequencer. In AUv3 the "apps" are size restricted, so stuff like step sequence won't be accessible since it won't fit in the AUv3 letterbox size.

@slimbeaux7 жыл бұрын
Took me forever to figure out how to get a little riff that I wanted into Loopy. Imagine my chagrin when I saw that Zeeon was not Audiobus compatible. Watching another synth guy he mentions it as a plug in and then I remember how you said you don’t use it in Cubasis. Ah Ha! That’s a clue! The good thing is that I found the Cubasis User Guide while I was floundering around the Internet. If you were going to save something to pull into another app do you have a good way of doing it????
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
+Slim Lundeen Hi Slim! Ok so this whole Stand alone vs Audio unit thing can be somewhat confusing but I'll try to clarify further. Zeeon synth was designed to work as an Audio Unit Extension, Plugin. This means that Zeeon is in fact compatible with the latest version of Audiobus named Audiobus 3. However Zeeon doesn't work with Audiobus 2 because It doesn't support audio unit Extensions. So Zeeon can be loaded into several hosts that support Audio Unit Extensions like AB3, AUM, MODSTEP and even Cubasis. Yes, Cubasis does also support Audio Unit Extensions. And so I do actually use Zeeon in Cubasis to record stuff. And then I export the audio from Cubasis into other apps. Theres a whole other reason why I'm not using Zeeon inside Cubasis in this video. Quoting myself from 1:10 and forward: "As you can see I've got Zeeon loaded as a stand alone unit. But it was actually designed as an audio unit extension. Now, the reason why I'm not using using it as an audio unit extension inside Cubasis right now, is simply because of this. Zeeon has a step sequencer" :end quote I you check the text printed on screen at 1:24 it states that the step sequencer isn't available in audio unit mode, and so that's why I'm not using it in Cubasis. Not because it doesn't work but because the step sequencer isn't available there. The reason why the step sequencer isn't available when running Zeeon synth as an Audio Unit is because of scaling or size. You see stand alone type apps can fit the whole screen on your iDevice, while Audio Unit Extensions are much smaller in size. So BeepStreet simply didn't include the step sequencer in the Audio Unit version of Zeeon synth. Hope his clarity's it for you Slim! 👍🏼
@slimbeaux7 жыл бұрын
OK where do I hang the sign that says I am an idiot. I looked under the app list but didn't even see listing for Audio Units. Tapped it and there it is. Duh, Some times I wish I could hide under a rock. Just when you were doing all this work you had to break away and help me. I am sorry and I will try to be completely sure of what I am doing before I ask questions next time. But for what it is worth, I am Grateful. Slim
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
+Slim Lundeen Don't worry Slim! Answering questions and helping out other musicians understand is part of what I do. Never hesitate to ask questions. I have a high respect for people that want to learn. Yes it can be uncomfortable to be wrong, I know how it feels. I am not infallible. I mean I had to remove a video last week and make a new one because I got something wrong. 😅👍🏼 Also, many times when viewers ask me questions that I might have already answered in a video also tells me that I might need to be more clear in my tutorials. It might even be an indication that someone didn't watch the video through because the video was boring. Maybe the pacing was wrong, maybe the person got bored watching and I need to find better ways of making my content more interesting. I try to improve my content all the time and it has changed as a format in so many ways over the years. Without the input from viewers like your self, that process would have been slower and my content wouldn't hold the standard it does today. Don't stop asking question! In a quest for knowledge, finding out something one did wrong and learning how to do it right is is never a defeat. It's a victory!

Hi Jakob, great video. I use mostly my iPhone with synths like these. I have a 1st gen iPad which can't handle most apps off course. So I want to buy a newer model iPad. It don't have to be a brand new model, if its capable to run Cubasis 2, Korg Gadget, Garageband and all the synths and effects I'm happy. What can you recommend me?
@JakobHaq6 жыл бұрын
Well, id recommend that you get an iPad Air at least. The oldest device I have is an iPad mini 1 and it’s pretty obsolete if one wants new apps since it can only run iOS 9. I also have an iPad mini 2 which is running iOS 11 now . It can run Cubasis, KORG Gadget etc however with every iOS version the device has been slowed down. When I got it was running iOS7 and it was pretty fast back then. It ran even better with iOS8 but iOS9 killed the operating speed quite a bit. After updating to iOS10 I almost stopped using it. . Working with it It felt like running through an ocean of syrup. And iOS 11 was and is a real shit storm. Even my iPad Pro took a minor hit. . Make sure your “new” iPad is fairly new with a 64-bit processor. If you have the cash then an iPad Air 2 would work well enough. It’ll be compatible for a few more iOS versions too.

@@JakobHaq Thanks Jakob. I appreciate your recommendation. So the minimum is in fact an iPad Air? For the other comment you provide, I never buy via eBay.
