I work in the jewelry industry and mixed metals is an intentional influence from corporations! Gold is getting unusually expensive right now so the move to make mixed metals more popular is financially motivated. (I say this as a girlie who has loved mixed metals for years- not passing any judgement or saying it’s a bad thing, just explaining where it’s coming from and supporting your prediction!)

Well cool, I've loved mixed metals for ages (have a mostly neutral undertone, am indecisive, and often make things out of random materials I find on the ground lol) so to me it's convenient 😂 Plus it's another fascinating example of trendy fashion reflecting-and-somewhat-anticipating what poor people are already doing.

That seems logical. Doesnt make it any less attractive.

@AlexBellydance15 күн бұрын
I am HERE for these trends, but also a little worried (?) about it because all the things that make the wizard-1920s-fantasy aesthetic are interesting luxe fabrics, detailed beading and trims, etc. and this adds cost. We know that most retailers wouldn't do that, so it'll be cheaper trims, beading and fabrics and I think it has the chance to really fall flat before it even takes off. It'll be interesting to see how this affects the overall feel of the trend as it'll look less opulent and interesting in the mainstream.
@Kimmie955314 күн бұрын
Yeah, it’s interesting because we do seem to be at a time socially where we relate a lot to the 1920s and I get why we are attracted to those styles now, but a lot of that stuff worked because of the luxe and detail oriented garments and fabrics used. Economically we seem to be in a more 1930s position where the 1920s styles probably can’t translate well currently outside of thrifting or secondhand finds. Fast fashion trying to do ornate beading is not gonna work… it reminds me a lot of fast fashion trying to do renaissance inspired looks. The best renn faire outfits are always handmade by talented crafters, the ones that use fast fashion premade items always look meh.

After watching your video i think I've been extremely stressed (all of us are!) and I've felt so powerless and out of control in regards to the world and what's going on. Girl! Pretty much all of those predictions fit into what I have been liking and wearing for years. Interestingly, I consider my style to be mainly influenced by the 60s and 70s, especially modernism, Space Age, glam rock, hippie trail and peacock revolution (my motto is "What would the Doctor wear"), but this era was very much inspired by the 1920s and the Belle Epoque, so it kinda checks out? I am also thinking of 1920s, but also the iterations of 1920s fashion trends that we have had in the last century. OH MY GOD I can't tell you how much I'm hoping these come true! I used to dress (or at least want to dress) very boho when it was a trend the last time around (in the late 00s to early-mid 2010s - yes I'm old), and I always felt like the flowy silhouettes and rugged look are a core part of my style. (i tried dressing like this even as a child but my parents wouldn't let me leave the house looking that way hahaha) The "messy make believe" i can absolutely see happening as people take their outfits they got in their cottagecore and/or whimsigoth eras especially and mash them into a boho silhouette - which is really what boho is all about, throwing stuff together and calling it a fit! If it all possible, thrifting will become even more popular with the rise of boho, surely! I do admit my fantasy style is very close to the messy make believe, but more of a nature element than things that remind me of castles (edit: though i love the chainmail!) 1920s i am less jazzed about ayyyyy but I think it'll totally happen. I noticed a curious and sudden uptick in dresses with dropwaists lasts year while wandering various stores - and this was at varying pricepoints too, so I think it's already starting to (attempt to) filter through I think the indie look of the mid-late 00s may also attempt a comeback - or at least something inspired it. And bouncing off previous predictions, I'd love to see full-on Mori Kei make a comeback. Sorry this is a wall of text! It's nice to feel excited!!

The part toward the end about whimsy-but-dark-and-gritty really resonates with my aesthetic (which I describe as mainly cottagepunk-salvagecore lol). I've lived mainly in cars for about a decade now, and gotten really into customizing my space via fiber arts and am now embarking on making my clothes, and you really nailed something I think a lot of us chronically impoverished people want in how we present ourselves. "I'm ready for anything, I'm a survivor, but also, eff you, I'm not going to succumb to forced strict utilitarianism, I have a personality and I deserve comfort and the joy of creativity." I wish there were a name for salvagepunk-but-make-it-practical, because searching for that term only gets wild (very cool but very unrealistic) madmaxesque cosplay getups, full of tatters that would snag on every surface in a real survival situation, and spikes that I can think of a hundred other uses for besides decoration lol. I want a word that reflects ME and the many other people moving in a mostly-DIY, very salvagepunk-influenced, but TRULY salvage-heavy and TRULY wearable/useful (but still also very personalized and a little decorative) direction with our clothes.

I think minimal cashmere ponchos will be huge! Easy for the “minimalist” and “classy” clothes to transition over to a more boho silhouette. In addition, worn in mulberry Bayswater and longchamp Roseau totes will be huge since they are classic and can be styled in a boho manner with a keychain with natural elements. I am a huge fan of tagua nut beads. Hunting season brand has woven tote bags with these charms and I love it. Think of Halston simple clean lines but in a free flowing way.

this is so interesting to see from the perspective of someone else because all of these have been popping up on my pinterest. making me want to lean into a more practical but unique and medieval/1960s/boho style. specifically with things like victorian belts (with coin purses, fans wallets), wool sweaters with medieval patterns and some 60s influences like pillbox hats and boxy shift dresses.

Man, everything you said around minute 13-14 was SO spot on. One of the most resonating explanations of the current state of the world I've heard in a while!

also on the topic of medieval-core fashion maybe making a comeback this year (especially seen in chappell's vma looks)- lucy dacus' new album 'forever is a feeling' coming out in march seems to have a medieval/fantasy/princess type vibe to it too!

Your take on fashion trends, specifically in the state of the world right now, even more specifically the state of the US is so spot on!! Im loving the vibes of the whole dark/rebellious style, but dont have the energy/finances to execute it so it ends up being more subtle for sure

6:30 ditzy floral patterns, long necklaces, thigh high boots. And boho style + indie sleaze. I'm feeling an early 2010's nostalgia revival. I feel like 90s fashion was popular when 90s babies became teens and y2k is popular now that 2000's babies are teenagers, so the next step is gen alpha getting into what was trendy when they were born. Idk, I'm excited as a zillenial that kept a lot of my pastel grunge tumblr kind of clothes.
