After the success of the UK Penny Floor Project I wanted to have a go at a new project, one ive been wanting to try for ages.....a bottle cap table.
I sourced a table from well known furniture company and bought some bottle caps from eBay. I used kitchen work surface edging to edge the table and GlassCast epoxy resin as a top coat.
So over the weekend i set about putting my project into action and by Monday morning the table was done and ready to use.
I filmed the whole process and have put together this little how-to tutorial video which I hope you will enjoy. Full list of materials as follows:
Occasional Table from Argos
Kitchen Edging from B&Q
Impact Adhesive for edging and sealing from B&Q
Glasscast epoxy Resin from Easy Composites

Love the idea!!! I would paint the top of table black before placing the bottle caps. The black background would make the cap pop out more. My opinion.

I had thought about doing the same, but seeing the wood affect through the caps matched the foot of the table so decided against the idea. But appreciate your view.

Gutsiest move move I’d ever seen... gluing the trim over a cardboard box sitting on lovely carpet. That would be a sure fire way for me to make a mess! Haha! Great video. I’m going to try it on a outdoor tray that I use to take refreshments out to the patio. 😃👍

Thanks for the video. I’m trying the same thing with an IKEA table. The “GLADOM” model. It’s metal and has a nice lip around the perimeter. Comes in many colors also.

How did you get on with this? I'm thinking about using this table after seeing your comment. Did you need alot of resin to fill the lip?
@tylerdavis1794
@tylerdavis1794 4 жыл бұрын
David Coulter , I used one batch (I believe it was a quart) and it filled up nicely to cover the cal heads. Also, the table has a little hole (maybe from factory tooling) that is just above the resin line and works well as a drain port for water standing on the top.
@tylerdavis1794
@tylerdavis1794 4 жыл бұрын
David Coulter , second note, I didn’t fill all the way to the lip. If you want to I would get a double batch of the resin.

So glad there was a Trooper bottle cap in there lol. I have the entire set 23 times. Sounds easy right concidering how much beer 1 can drink. Naahh!... at 1 point it took me 3 month of searching to find the 23rd pharoah eddie. Was my wife who found it in the end. I probably would have had it earlier but my wife doesnt use the 2p coin trick to keep them pristine lol.
