Cooked a delicious easy Beer Can Chicken on the Weber Kettle. Very few ingredients and fun to make!!!
Very simple recipe and you can make this on any grill (gas or charcoal). Get yourself a whole chicken, some olive oil, your favorite rub and a half drunk beer. There's your ingredients. Separate the chicken skin in the breast and leg area using your fingers and season that bird under the skin. Oil the outside of the skin and season the entire outside. Get that grill up to 325-350 degrees set up for indirect heat. I highly recommend getting a temp probe (mine is in the link below) to check the internal temp which should finish at about 165 degrees. Place chicken on top of the half full beer (ouch) and sit in a tin pan on the indirect heat. For a 5lb bird it will take about 1:15-1:30 hours. Fill the pan with another half or full beer and use that to baste every 15 minutes or so. After its done let it rest for about 10 minutes and enjoy!!!

Beer can chicken sounds better than can chicken. Difference or not, who knows. I say use what you like! I use beer and the guest are always impressed with BEER can chicken, so I use it. big hands = big gloves! lol, I did one of these on my Chanel a few weeks ago. Take care BC!

I've done lots of beer can chickens using different beers and sodas (even water). I've never tasted any difference, I think it's more to add moisture to the inside of the chicken cavity.

Morning 🦁 have did quite a few I think it doesn’t really make a big difference in taste except maybe moisture wise. I got big or maybe fat hands lol. I take a small wooden spoon greased up it slides easily under skin all over back,legs,thighs and breast.Load spoon with seasoning and butter after separating skin less mess and gets all over the🐓. Keep on bringing them👌to us.......

Well it sure looks good Cat. I hope you haven't parked the Blackstone and took up with the Grille world. I got some of the Badia brand Chili Powder and it tastes great. Thanks for the tip about Badia products. I have seen them in the grocery store but never tried them until you said they were good, and you were right. The last time I cooked a Beer Can Chicken I used a Sun Drop Cola. I don't usually keep beer very much. Anyway, thanks for the video and keep them coming...........Terry

I loved this video. I have a Weber Kettle and will try a chicken next. Quick question - you had both top and bottom vents 25% closed? I thought the vents had to stay open so I’m learning!

Thanks Tabitha!!! I will tell you that the Weber Kettle was relatively new for me when I made this video. I have a lot of KZbin friends that use the Weber Kettle and I have learned that a great best practice is to leave the bottom vent wide open and control the temperature with the top vent. I have been doing this for a while since then and it is much easier to control the temps. Hope this helps. Appreciate you stopping by!!!

@@cookingwithbigcat , your chicken did look very moist and I bet it smelt so good even when it was cooking . Up here in Canada I love whole chicken on the BBQ in the summer months . The only difference I do is that I always butterfly a chicken letting it cook on low heat and letting the chicken bones heat up in turn cooking the whole chicken .. I really like your channel and always like visiting Florida with all that Sunshine !!!
