Competitive hockey is fun but too many people playing forget that some players can actually get financially burdened due to an injury, especially if they don’t have health care or good health insurance. Trades workers especially don’t need to be put out of commission because they’re injured and can’t do their job.

@@unwelcomemotivation you're right -- it is sad. i had slid into that age when it was a lot of fun hamming it up with my old HS buddies, but it got too dangerous for me. i was ( and am ) sight impaired and i got stitches near my good eye in two straight games. but there are also lots of guys that never had their day in the sun, but they play safely and this is their shot at playing. it was not the end of the world for me because i had some success, but the looney toons guys ruin it for the poor schlubs who are having their big time in the crummy men's leagues.

Before GoPro cameras and hockey rink video streaming services like LiveBarn, a lot of this unnecessary crap in beer league hockey goes unpunished and often not even believed because there is no evidence except for unreliable eye witness testimony from the participants. Not anymore. We can all see for ourselves what happened.

I had some guy go skates up in an A beer league in San Mateo California in 2007. He was trying to fight me all game. Went after my goalie after the whistle and I put him on his ass. Went 2 skates from his back into my belly cut my shell a bit through my girdle and a small cut in my stomach. Not to deep. The worst part was I got thrown out of the game because I lost my mind over what he did and the refs not doing a thing about it. Anyone who is going to use a skate as a weapon should not be on the ice.

Yeah, I am amazed how many times I have seen players kick with their skates while down on the ice, and the referees do nothing. It's a Match Penalty all day every day .... even if you don't land it.

Charge this reckless hockey player and make him an example that you never kick with skates on another person. It can be a deadly weapon and can cause serious injury or death. Skates can be very sharp to get a better edge on the ice. All players should know this. I hope the player that got kicked fully recovers. This should never be in the game.

How so? All he did was try to prevent yellow-helmet from 3rd man-ing the donnybrook that was already going on which is a pretty normal thing to do on the ice. But yellow-helmet freaked out and took him down and straddled him. He then simply defended himself and rolled out of it to get the upper hand. He didn't even feed yellow-helmet a few like he could have when he was on top. That's when yellow-helmet went all bitch and kicked him like a little girl. Yellow-helmet was completely in the wrong here at every part of this.
