Jinnah not knowing about the violence that will take place is an absolute joke. He knew exactly how violent his Muslim brothers could be. There were plenty of regular examples of that pre-independence dating back decades and centuries. He was the one to incite the Kolkata killings by calling for direct action day. He knew what kind of violence would erupt. He just didn't realise Hindus and Sikhs will fight back equally hard 😂 that's what he didn't expect. In other riots prior to the 1947 violence Muslims were only faced with regional communities of Hindus and it was also never something that was as big as partition which involved displacement of people and what do people value more than their roots and Heritage in India? Nothing! Plus before this Hindus were almost always caught off-guard with these violent riots started by Muslims this was different. So, when you say Jinnah didn't know the kind of violence that would erupt it's just that he didn't expect as much muslims to die 😂
@genericguy_ Жыл бұрын
Infantilization of leaders is something that buslims are very fond of doing 😂 Notice how they claim that their prophet was illiterate, couldn't read or write, how could he have known this or that??!! similarly jinnah, the UK educated barrister, had no idea the violence that would have happened??!! hilarious 😭

"He just didn't realise Hindus and Sikhs will fight back equally hard"...... How could he when our great leader gandhi decided to side with the buslims during the 1921 moplah roits and 1946 noakhali roits. 16:43 As a Bangladeshi I would like to add that A K Fazlul Haque, one of the prominent leaders in Bengal wanted three separate countries in a conference arranged at Lahore in 1940. Firstly, I want to commend Ranveer on a great podcast-there’s so much to learn from it. The perspectives presented by Tilak sir were so rich and insightful, shedding light on the "whys" behind the "whats" of such a complex topic. That said, I recognize how challenging these discussions can be. At times, it seemed like Ranveer was so focused on keeping the conversation relevant that it led to some moments where his lack of familiarity with certain topics, like Gilgit-Baltistan, became evident. Some questions may have felt a bit off-track or unprepared. However, considering all that Ranveer brings to the table through his incredible lineup of guests, this is a minor issue. It’s also worth noting that he’s young and unafraid to ask questions, which is admirable. At his age, I wasn’t half as sharp! Overall, it’s a fantastic podcast. My only suggestion for Ranveer would be to invest a bit more time in preparation when hosting such knowledgeable guests, to fully do justice to the value they bring. Keep up the great work!

Many young folks may not know, but for the longest time, in the 70s 80s and 90s, Pak was waaay ahead of India and always had better prosperity and projections. It was not inconceivable that Kashmir would go to Pak. It can't be as simple as no more funding from the US and hence economy has faltered, there have to be systemic issues and it would have to be a sequence of bad decisions - a chain reaction. Hoping that this discussion will raise a number of issues that even India should be mindful of.

With the number of geopolitics beerbiceps had covered, this conversation should have been in flow instead of getting scattered and moving here and there… many times I felt like the guest is explaining something and then the next topic is 25-50 years later or before and at least the host should have read the guest’s books and that should have enlightened him about what questions to ask in a flow so that it keeps the conversation interesting to viewers when one is talking to such an elite expert

So far I am at 16 mins couldn't resist to watch whole for the acknowledgement. My grandparents are from indore and still we have relatives, my great great grandfather bought the haveli from a Hindu family in Karachi where both families lived for some time together and than they left for India. Muhajir is the term used in derogatory manner but yes muhajir is the term as the identity for the ethnicity. Urdu speaking Muhajirs.

Ranveer - for these kind of topics a bit less exhuberence will help. Also be a bit more prepared for the shoe. Some ofthe questions were scattered.

The podcast clearly shows the distinction between a professional and an amature. Ranveer comes out with half baked information, which Tilak sir corrects politely. It clearly exposes the tribe of You Tubers who claim to be opinion makers, but who do not invest enough in knowledge, who cover a lot of breadth, without going into depth. I watched by skipping the questions and just listening to Devasher sahab.

The non alignment movement actually was a great move initiated by Nehru and initial Congress government. Despite the all the hate, we have to appreciate Nehru for the forward thinking that has benefited us majorly today. Even today, India follows the same ideology in terms of foreign policy.

Multi - Alignment is our Policy now, under the Garb of Non - Alignment we were always tilted towards THE USSR, Indo- US relations got better only after the 2008 Nuclear Deal.....
@NewWorld413 Жыл бұрын
Non alignment policy was okay but multi alignment is best policy which we are doing right now. But in any situation when you are not in any group... the most important thing is building own security army with good weapons where nehru just done worst things so he get the flake of the people. You say you are not with anyone but you are not remain ready to fight or secure the nation then you remain very vulnerable... which made them almost go in USSR group which defeated main non alignment 🤦♂️
@let_it Жыл бұрын
Wrong....grossly wrong...we were never non aligned. We were with USSR all along. It costed us our permanent seat in UNSC, it costed us kashmir, it costed us balonchistan and coco island....Nehru was not far sighted, he was selfish...

Friends... please speak to some one of that era .....what they felt when India got independence... How our leaders got India out of British hand's....what were the geo political powers at that time...how weakened we were economically... don't forget...our constitution give us India togather....we were fighting British for freedom but we were fragmented into 546 princely states... so don't jump the gun.... those leaders had empty hand's to begin country progress.... world around them was different.. just out of 2nd world war....... don't criticise Nehru bcos he was Congress man...he was the pm of nation..... maybe 50years later current PM could be judged poorly for his performance.....each PM irrespective of the political party...they work best in the current geo political environment.... India is our motherland and collective conscience is prime.... 🙏🙏

@@harjassingh6786 yes this is coming from a person whose family was massacred due to Nehru's stupidity. Sardar vallabhai Patel was from Congress and I admire him even with his flaws. And instead of asking please READ history. India was not united because of constitution but because of the military of India which was against the democratic rights of the princely states. READ the constitution. The very constitution discriminates among the Indians. The very constitution upholds the judiciary as a form of feudal parallel without any accountability. The very constitution will break India one day if not mended on time. The so called masterpiece of Ambedkar is ridden with flaws so instead of praising the idiots of that time please READ

One correction . GILGIT is paradise on earth and has zero crime rate . I v been there ... interacted with locals . Their education is 99 percent . They don't want to be a part of India and get killed by Indian army . They also love China because of support they extended to GB during Attabads lake incident

i think ranveer you should read more to ask better and much more relative questions , i realised in the podcast that it was going here and there . Otherwise tilak sir is a legend and he spoke well .

First Comment on reality. Ranveer, bro you're champ, but it takes a hell lot of another levels effort in interviewing intellectuals like Tilak Ji. No offence, but you can even prepare in advance and keep a notepad, no shame in it. You're still cool.

I have two guest suggestions: 1. Someone who can narrate the first hand account of the partition (very few people left of this generation and they deserve to be listened to before they vanish) 2. Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed who wrote a few books on partition and known for his contrarian view of Pakistani establishment back then
