The transition from you on the ground saying you could never move again to the look on your face as you are hiking in the next frame - priceless. I sure hope you are feeling better by now!

You're hiking great Maddie! Even on the bad days you are hiking strong. Don't let the bad days get you down, everybody on the trail has them. You just have to remember that if it was all good days, Katahdin wouldn't be such an accomplishment. Better times are coming. I think that you are really going to like New England! When you are on top of Katahdin, you will only remember the good times. Hike safe, Hike strong, Have fun! geek

❤some things I do when I start to question what the f#@% am I doing. 1) think of why I'm there to begin with. 2) remember the epic adventure of a lifetime doesn't come easy 3) think of the future, a month off trail and how much I'll miss the trail, my tramily etc., then I tend to cherish my time with them more. 4) would I rather be going through real life trials and tribulations without my tramily back home or facing trail problems with them by my side here and now. I never try to avoid thinking about the stuff that sucks but instead try and brainstorm ways to make it better for the future.❤ love your videos I try to make time to catch as many as I can! Hope you get back to the headspace you had when you started this whole thing or even better to the headspace you'll be in when you finish it!

This video of yours is my favorite yet. It’s the changing woods your in, I guess about Maryland or somewhere. The food choices are the thing there, with you. You have to straighten out your diet, I think. Ramen tastes like bird feathers to me, lol. Omnivore yes but not everything & anything ! Also, your legs are so pumped from all that work it’s a big difference.

You are stronger than me. I would rather be a trail angel than hike 2100 miles. The first pretty place by water I would make a base camp and day hike a few hours a day until my food is gone. Thumbs up be safe and good luck.

It was probably gastroenteritis which is common when there is a lack of hygiene like you’d experience on a trail. It’s hard to wash hands for 20 seconds with soap and hot water. And it’s not a coincidence that a group got it. I hope you’re feeling better.

Hi Maddie! It looks like you are on an emotional and physical roller-coaster. While there isn't much you can do to make the hike less strenuous...it is what it is!...you should always try to eat well. It's OK to snack, but make sure to eat some good sensible food whenever possible to keep healthy and strong. Never underestimate the value of eating fresh vegetables and fruit. I know there aren't stores selling an assortment of fresh food all along the AT, but every chance you DO get, try to eat well! You're asking alot of your body right now, so do what you can to take care of yourself. Well, keep at it, you've passed the 1/3 mark. You're doing great! Good for you! ...and ENJOY!!! ps- so glad you're taking us along with you. Such beautiful scenery. Love the Rhododendrons!

Hint from someone who has dealt with food poisoning lately; if your food smells like butt (salami), it can make you sick. My case was from a spicy tuna packet that was suspiciously watery when opening.
