I've seen a couple hikers say they got through it an hour and a half. They're lying! Thank you for a true assessment of what it looks like to get through that thing. I've never seen anybody in video show it quite so accurately and graphically.

Hey there, I enjoy watching your videos! I did the AT for about 2 weeks and was filled with sooo many extremes but best time of my life. I would of loved to have done the entire thing, so its special to watch someone else do it and film it .And I like that you are soo honest about your feelings..When your mad, sad, happy..just real emotion! You can be funny to..liked the news anchor bit..I only spent two weeks on it and had many emotions lol! Yay! You guys did it! So proud of you! What a ride! Maddie, I heard some hikers take Benedryl to knock them out so they sleep thru the night. I take Tylenol PM. It helps with the aching, stiffness, and soreness, plus it knocks me out. Bit groggy in the morning, but coffee takes care of that! Yeah, I know, not good for your kidneys, but its only once in a while and I drink a lot.(Of water! LOL) And kudos to SMoke who knows how to treat a woman right! Pretzel bites and helping with your pack, plus staying close so you had help in case of injury. What a great guy!

For those watching, don't ever wear shoes this worn out! The soles are crushed so her body will ache more. The lugs are worn out so she's more apt to fall and the holes let debris into the shoes. I'm sure she is keeping them going for sentimental reasons but it's a choice that is costing her speed, comfort and safety. Most people wear through half a dozen pairs on the AT. Hopefully she gets a sponsorship for wearing them the whole time!

Yeah, I wished she would have traded out for new shoes regularly…would have made her feel so much better and sure footed…and even the mental boost for having something new and a new shirt too…would have helped her so much. Maybe in her mind, she was thinking they would only get muddy and trashed …so just keep the old one, but new one would have been structurally sound even though they would look bad after a few day…would have made her days a little easier

I agree. The shoes are definitely a don’t try this at home moment. But everyone’s different. There are people out there with such stable feet that can hike nearly barefoot without a problem, she may be one. Yeah, taking over six months to hike the AT is considered a slow hike, but from everything I’ve seen in her video series so far it has far more to do with her documenting her journey in detail that very few others have, and choosing to savior some extra time with friends and socializing. I don’t think the shoes are the shirt have had an effect on her speed honestly. No blisters no apparent foot issues or injuries, so, keep on trucking in them.
