Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan (drummer) passed in the middle of making the album Nightmare in 2009. Some of the songs on the album are him, while others are from Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater). The song Fiction was his last recording and also believed to be his final goodbye.

Nightmare is an album about grief, about how you cope and its a masterpiece. So many amazing songs on that album. All of their work has the musicality and just drive....but Nightmare is my personal favourite.

first time seeing the channel thanks to avenged sevenfold, great reactions and great song to start from for the guy who has't heard this band and also great song to revisit as it brings back all the memories and nostalgia. revisiting this album is great idea, i love watching whole album reactions, i prefer it more than watching seperate videos cause the whole point of album is to listen it in whole, because every song is meant to tell a story and continue in order as the album progresses. Court u have a lot to catch up, u mentioned the "hail to the king" (2013) album as their most recent one but after that they put out "the stage" album in 2016 and "life is but a dream" album in 2023, in those two albums they have changed their sound quite a bit, in 2016 album they introduced more progressive metal sound and 2023 album is complete chaos, there is classical a7x sound and also very experimental stuff, so i hope u guys will check those two album too. for next reactions u asked which song to do next nightmare or bat country, i'm team bat country but love nightmare too so both would be great

So while the video may be actors in places, the band really does have ties to childhood so I’m guessing it’s based on stories/memories. The band is and always has been tight knit. In fact, two of them are brothers technically. M. Shadows (lead singer) married his school sweetheart. Synyster Gates (Lead guitarist), who grew up with them, is married to Shadows’ wife’s twin sister. They’re raising their kids together now, go on vacations together. All that to say when this happened, it was a wildly devastating blow.

The rev sadly passed in 2009 A7X got his favourite drummer to drum the nightmare album which correct me in I’m wrong 60% of the album was written by the rev along with many demo drum tracks that Mike portnoy idk how to spell his last name used to try and recreate the rev’s drumming for the album

He knew he was terminal and he did want to go out on his own… he wrote a song composed it and handed it into Matt aka m shadows then said this is my last song… 3 days later he was found dead from overdose… I don’t think it was accidental.. the last song he handed over to Matt was called fiction.. listen to that, it was his way of saying good bye.. also m shadows put his on vocals over some of it as as his own goodbye accepting his death
