HI Jeff! I LOVE these videos which allow us to see what the bees do on their own! I'm going to have to see if you've made a video about your bee-vac! One thing that jumps out at me with this structure, is that the wall in uninsulated, AND, they put their plumbing in that outside wall? Does it never freeze there? It's a construction practice that would result in burst pipes where I reside. Watching you cut and pull those fabulous full combs of honey is just a pure joy to watch. It's also just fun to watch someone who finds so much conspicuous joy in the little things. I'm guessing that's the kitchen sink wall? Stay awesome!

P.S. I also enjoy the friendly ribbing that you and the Dirt Rooster always give one another - the beetle larvae? Keep them there in the south, NO thanks ; )

Great to hear from you again Fredrick, I know you are always busy so I really do appreciate you watching and especially when you leave a comment. I do have a video about the bee vac, as a matter of fact, 2 of them, and I will leave you those links at the end of my reply. Believe it or not, it does freeze here in the deep south, and yes, pipes do freeze, even if they are in the wall. This particular building was a barn that was converted into an apartment so there was NO insulation in the entire building, and I imagine it was very cold in the winter. This was a great example of comb construction and how bees will build their comb to accommodate the space. The slabs were beautiful, and I did manage to frame up all the brood and almost all of the honey comb. It did require 2 deeps to handle all the comb and bees, better than 12,000 of them, and the hive is thriving. As a matter of fact, I just added a honey super on it last week to see if I can get some honey for myself. We shall see. Thanks for checking in, and God's peace brother. Thank you Jesus! Good wrangling solo Jeff. My mouth watered watching all that honey. I had to go get a drool bib to keep from ruining my tablet. Beautiful queen. I'm glad you caught her before she ran to the back and underneath that cabinet. When you were first undoing the batten and board siding I could have sworn it was my former in-laws place over on the coast here in Oregon. Memories come flooding back of all my fishing trips. WOW! Hey thanks again Jeff for the work you do and all the help you give the bees. Keep on wrangling, and I'll keep on watching....yes I did read the video description. Thank you.

Could you tell I was sending a subliminal message, "Eat more honey." I know it as working on you if you had to grab the bib. Isn't that something how images can bring us places, I was happy to hear they were good experiences for you. Thank you so much for taking the extra time to read the descriptions. It takes me a bit of time to write them, and I really do appreciate those that do read it. Till the next time, God's peace Cheryl. Mr. Ed

When I got back to the abbey with this removal, there was so much comb and bees, I had to use 2 deep supers to contain it all. I have also added, just last week, another super to collect honey. These girls are very active, and I can hardly wait to split them next year. A very good addition to our genetics here at the abbey. I'm sorry you can't find removals in your area, but I do appreciate you checking out my wrangling adventures. God's peace Daniel. Mr. Ed

I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 14 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Also, I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. Ok here is a dumb question. Why are the bees so dark . Thank you
@JeffHorchoff5 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question. Because the queen is mated with up to 19 drones, there can be a wide range of coloration in the bees, some dark, some light, or all look exactly the same. Regardless of color, every bee in the same colony are sisters as they all have the same mother, queen. Good question.Thanks for asking and watching. God's peace Jane. Mr. Ed

@JeffHorchoff2 жыл бұрын
Your kind words are greatly appreciated, thank you for them and for watching. I do not charge to remove the bees. However, most would charge around $350.00 to remove a hive like this one. God's peace Ab. Mr. Ed

Great video, I read the description 😄 we are considering buying an abandoned property in Alabama and there is definitely a hive in the wall and we are very concerned about it. Lots of dead bees on most of the window sills around the house.

My experience is that bees love abandoned property and will flourish there as they are undisturbed. I hope you will contact someone to have them removed before you go about renovating the property. Best wishes to you and the bees. God's peace Arial. Mr.Ed

New addition to the BBFP Dictionary: "Bee Wrangling" = The safe removal of bees. (MR ED STYLE) It involves a rather complex and careful observation of bees in the unwanted location. Then the careful and considerate removal of the bees and as much of the comb honey and pollen as possible. The bees are then placed in a new home along with as much as their old home as possible where they can live happily ever after. This definition was made by observing the great works of Jeff Horchoff Bees
