What a great day April first was, I got to save a super bee hive from being destroyed and then moved them into the Layens hive I had built...and it was the perfect fit, over 40,000 bees and 11 frames of comb to start the hive off. I'm really hoping to get some honey off these girls in just a few months, we shall see. Oh yea, don't worry, there will be several follow up videos about these girls. Stay tuned. I can attest! I had a HUGE bee hive that formed on the back side of my garden. A Bee Master (my name for him) came and got every single one and helped them establish a new hive. THIS was 10 years ago and they are still going strong.

Mr. Ed- you could make a metal cut out that matches your frames. Like a cookie cutter- and just lay out the comb, and use the “honey cutter,” and stamp out the correct size.

A lot of bees is putting it mildly! You need a weight scale on the bee vacuum! I'd of betted you vacuumed at least 3 pounds of bees just to see the comb. At first it was looking like a swarm hanging there because you couldn't even see the comb!

Not a lot of videos of grafting wild comb to Layens frames. Thanks for sharing. I see how it helps to not have wires in the frames. Certainly something I will be considering. I tried it with wires in the frames and it was disastrous.

I think the reason it's not seen often is because there are so few wranglers out there who want to put feral bees into a Layens hive, and fortunately for me, this hive made comb that was the perfect size for the frames.
