Mom was so special, and she was my first bee wrangling partner. She passed away in February of 2021and still I have viewers that can remember the fun times that were shared on my videos. Check out the video link below when she unboxed my Silver Play Button from KZbin, priceless! Also, my mom had 6 children and we all looked like her. Mr. Ed, how many hives do you manage for honey production?
@JeffHorchoffКүн бұрын
We have about 180 hives, but all I need for our demand on the honey is 150 hives. So, I will be selling at least 30 of our hives in the next month or so to get back to my number. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. Mr. Ed. I was wondering if you have ever had an ant problem with your bees. I just lost a hive due to ants invading it, robber bees took over, and I check the hive today, and its all gone. I have heard of a product called Tanglefoot for repelling ants, using mineral oil in containers that the hive stand sits in, etc. I would like to know what you have done, that's if you have ever had an ant problem.
@JeffHorchoffКүн бұрын
To my knowledge I have never lost a colony to ants. I'm not saying that ants have not been a nuisance to our hives and I often find them on the inner cover, but not a big bother. Since I do not treat our bees, I don't do any preventative measures for ants either. I hope you can get things under control. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. Our temps are always mild in Southeast Louisiana and our bees fly almost all year round. Even in the coldest part of winter, January and February, temps rarely get in the teens, and if they do, it's only for a day or two. Heck, it's one of the reasons I love living in the south. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. @ I will definitely be watching. I’m not a beekeeper by any means. I just love watching your videos. I think I learned more about bee keeping than many bee keepers. Haha.
@tasmedic3 күн бұрын
Lovely video. I've learned a lot from you, especially the elastic band trick and I love how you use a template to measure your cut-out. However, if you put the comb in your box upside down, doesn't all that uncapped nectar run out of the cells and pool in the bottom? I always try to put the comb in right way up, and I find that a lot less messy, especially if it's a long journey back to base.

Unreal I only got 50 deep frames wire but with 2 in plastic insert one goes to top one opposite side bottom make stainless fram for 2 rows of 25 for swarm trap goes to center plus 18 ins of timber 360 deg around frames of edge seal plase hole for entrance place black Beatle bubble over hole cut cross under entrance 10mm wide add liquid steel so when bees guard the have a channel to push Beatles over cross then jar with oil does the rest all to do is wait for bees to draw 50 frames out and wait for a queen cell or cells split and selll.😂 no mites yet here so when they turn up if I loose the one mega trap done dusted go to more native bee's. Bad here very dry we never got a drop.

Hi Ed, good video. Curious why you don't use the knifes? My understanding is they help to turn the wax over to allow more to extract and then there isn't a scraping process at the end? Or am I thinking of a spinner that auto empties?
@JeffHorchoff6 күн бұрын
The function of the knives is to chop the cappings as they fell into the spinner, but since the cappings from our uncapper are so small, the knives were not necessary and I removed them.
